14-11 Vacancy Bid is out

Now is the time to see how junior the west coast will go. Opens today at noon ORD time, closes June 30.

Basically a smattering of other bids but the real story here are the Guppy bids to SFO and LAX. 30 Capt, and 30 FO at both SFO and LAX. :D No bus bids.

And no 37 F/O DEN or ORD slots even though they've been doing TDY for the last two months. Interesting.

My only guess there is that might be a whole separate bid? Meaning newhires will fill the 320 and 737 so once this vacancy is determined they will staff ORD and DEN.

Also, the Company has communicated to the pilots that 76T surplus will occur in ORD and DEN??

They've also mentioned A320 bumps in DEN. Which means DEN 737 will be fully staffed/overstaffed with the bumps. If they posted DEN 737 vacancies now, it would only make the future situation worse.
(But then, I've never given them much credit for planning ahead.)

Wow pretty big vacancy bid. If this place didn't suck so much I would always feel encouraged.

LAX 737 flying is kinda rough, lots of east coast & Hawaii all nighters.

So being new to all of this, I have a few questions:

If I am awarded a position available per the vacancy bid (LAX 737 FO for example), and I am already trained on the equipment (current position is EWR 737 FO), what date would I start in LAX? Is this date flexible, or more specifically, are you able to push the start date in the new base back (I may or may not have issues coordinating the timing of my wife's job separation)?

If awarded a new base, and something comes up before you are actually advanced to the new base, can you theoretically base trade back to your current base?

On a related note, would this qualify for the Merger Move benefits?

Thanks for any input!

As it pertains to ohare, might this be a result of all of the Chicago vacancies being on the 400? Thus there would be a "trickle-down" effect resulting in vacancies on smaller equipment?
