Default Denver Commuters

Can one of you Denver commuters, meaning commuting OUT of Denver, tell me about the Denver badge? Can you obtain a Denver badge if you're not based in Denver? I know that you could back in the day, but now I see commuters riding the ground-side bus...why not ride the airside bus if in uniform?? just curious as I will prolly become a commuter in the near future. Thanks.

You can't get a SIDA badge unless based in DEN. UA pays for your parking for landside. You get a landside only parking badge.

Not entirely true.

UAL will pay for your parking at single base. If one lives in DEN they will pay for your parking either at DEN or your base. They will also get you a DIA SIDA badge, but not one from the base you're flying from. If you are based in say ORD and commute from DEN you can either have parking and a badge from DEN or ORD, not both.

The DIA security people only want, "working crew members" to use the airside parking. Additionally many UAL pilots "carry" items which are prohibited from passing through the airside because there aren't people who can properly approve them at the turnstiles.

May I also add, "working crew members" always wear their full uniforms when entering through the airside turnstiles. They normally also go directly to the Flight Operations Office (where the CP has an office, CPO) after exiting the bus.

DIA has been known to trail behind non-working employees to see what they are doing.

Well. This is conflicting info. Can I get a real SIDA badge that will allow me through airside as a commuter or not? (I don't want OA parking or badge). As far as items that may not be carried through....don't get me started. One COULD carry said items though airside for many years thanks to the legwork of a past CP. Now, no dice. What changed? nothing. Likely just a new DIA HNIC (N for Nazi), and his little kingdom rules.

The problem is this is a public forum, which means you must stop into Flight Operations (CPO) and inquire with them about both badging and parking. I can assure of this one thing many many commuters from DEN have DIA SIDA badges for parking, both air and land side.

If you want one and live in Denver then go and visit UAL's office for help. Do not go to the DIA office!

And my info about just one airport badge and parking is correct for the normal pilots. UAL will only pay for one location. Now management, and those who are on some sort of special assignment, are a different story.

The real question is why are you asking a nameless forum when you can stop in or give a call DENFO for yourself?

For the same reason I never ask the Flight Office for time off.

But I get it. Thanks for your reply.

Just so you know the DENFO CP is a lady who has fought the fight for the local pilots for years now. One of the best, if not the best, CP is the entire system. Because of her and her staff's work, "working crew members," in "full uniform" have been parking in the airside lot without any conflict from the DIA people.

But if you're going to be the rear end of a certain four legged animal and ruin things them please park somewhere else.

I have been parking at DIA as a "working crewmember" based in Denver and elsewhere for 11 years. And I've flown with Bebe many times. I think I got it covered, ACE. I was just wondering if something had changed since my last commuting days, as I see so many commuters on the Landside Bus. You need not reply. I got it. Loud and clear...and I'll park where I park, beotch.
