30 more Airbuses?

I've now been told twice about these mythical creatures coming from China (319's, supposedly). I haven't seen anything, but was told it was mentioned in "the 2nd Qtr earnings call".

Since APC'ers are THE epitome of knowledge and fact, I thought I'd ask you. Have you all heard this, and is there a chance it's legit?

Another purchaser bought those airplanes already. This is just old news leaking out.

Don't know where any potential airframes might come from, but Jeff & Co absolutely discussed acquiring used airframes on the last call and specifically mentioned that values for used Airbus narrow bodies were more attractive than NGs.

They also reiterated that ~150 50 seat RJs will leave the fleet in the next 18 months while there are 75 E175s on the way. Considering that they also offered guidance for no reduction of ASMs, there is some "missing" lift in the equation.

With the number of moving pieces involved, I'll believe the rumors when the airplanes are parked at the gate but something is up, IMHO, otherwise they would not be discussing things publicly.

What about those 40 frames that have been parked on the ramp in Toulouse for the past 10 years? With multiple sightings I might add. :D

I know there is a plan to acquire 30+ airframes in the 90-115 seat segment. 319s are the flavor we are looking for to make this plan happen. I actually heard we need 100 to fulfill the longer-term plan but who really knows? I also know that mgmt will max the 76 seaters to full scope allowance and are trying their best to get them and replace the 50 seaters. This next year is going to b interesting to me. We will really get to see the full plan with bases, planes and how we can master better profitability.

Just ask Jay Pierce. He'll tell you.

I don't quite understand your comment. I assume your knocking him? I don't talk to him and don't care what he says.

Think he might be referring to an ugly rumor that jPOS might have taken a mgt position in crew manpower or something to that affect.

If they are looking for 30+ planes are they still of the opinion in keeping capacity growth flat?

Unless that "flatness" was because we took back some RJ flying and kept it in-house?

That would be refreshing.
