Crew Companion

Is this what the company is going to sanction?

Anyone have experience with it?

Allegedly this is the plan.

And yes it is very well done and LUAL pilots have been using it for years as a self paid third party solution. The customer support has always been stellar, IMHO.

Of course, until we see what capabilities UCH actually buys the jury remains out. Not to mention that real trip trading is always limited by company imposed 'constraints' or lack thereof.

Thanks. Signed up for a trial period. Didn't want to learn a trade system that was not going to be the new one. Seems much more intuitive than CCS.

With the old UAL system we have to manually try to execute trips trades. When a trip came open it was first-come first-served. One of the many advantages of Crew Companion was you could tell the software, pick me up a trip on these days that meets this criteria, and it would log in every 15 minutes and check for trips meeting that criteria. Then it would send you a text say you got the trip.

Also, the "big pick" was fastest finger. So if you were flying on the 25th at 1200 when the open trip trading started, you were screwed. This software would log in a couple minutes before trading opened and continuously execute the pickup trip command until the trip wasn't available or you got it.

Also, when we had transparent TRDAVL (Trades available) it might be 0 on the day you want to drop, but if it went to 1, and you had a drop in for the day, it executed the trade, even if you were flying.

Lots of guys complained that this was "unfair" to pay for an advantage in real time trip trading.

There is also a linebuilder mode which is 20X better than anything in PBS that we use now. You can actually build a line with trips for the next month and it has a legality checker in place. Its very visual, so building lines is just dragging them into the calendar etc. Its seriously the front end we should have for our systems that we don't. Even just printing your trip with all the info is way better than anything we are using now.

Its VERY robust now, and can do about everything except put your PBS bids in.

This is a win for the pilot group.

Does the system use seniority when two guys tell crew companion to pick up the same trip ?

Crew Companion doesn't actually execute the trade. It is just a front-end. It puts it into the company server so that the seniority trip trade can work. So yes seniority still matters.

Thanks to those who have given insight. Crew companion appears to be a very good program that is pilot positive. UAL doesn't have to suck at everything and this is proof...

Does it work for reserves ?

What crew companion can do especially for TTWOF is it can sort the requests to the ccs in an order that can allow for trades to happen. Who knows maybe the company will turn over the trade solver to Tom to run it. He can make things like the two 2-days over a 4-day process.
