United DEC 9 Class

Any info on class drop for United Dec. 9th class?

r1830 12-09-2014 10:53 PM

A couple guys coming back from furlough returnees, a few coming back from LOAs, 4 FTIs (fleet technical instructors) and approximately 20 new hires. Mock bid was done today, looks like the first two will take the 737 EWR, and everyone else will be on the a350

A350?

I assume you meant A320, if not, those guys are the luckiest bastages ever who will get to be paid sitting at home waiting for aircraft to arrive in probably 3ish years!

Wow, last bid said something like 114 unfilled guppy spots, another 150 just left EWR with this same bid. Going to be a fun summer, bring on the senior manning.

r1830 12-10-2014 04:13 AM

Sorry about that, I don't know why it says A350, it is the A320.

r1830 12-10-2014 04:15 AM

On a related note, the Dec 2 class was able to participate in the last vacancy bid. Sounds like everyone that wanted out of EWR was able to bid out.

Larry in TN 12-10-2014 04:44 AM

Why so few 737 slots? With it being the growing fleet wouldn't you expect there to be more 737 slots than A320 slots?

UAL T38 Phlyer 12-10-2014 04:55 AM

Could be no training capacity....classes full.

They can't release current pilots to training unless they have new pilots coming in behind them. There has been a lot of movement on the 737 but almost all of it is lateral and requires no training. On the other side almost all the CA upgrades and movement into the 737/777 have come from the 320. In order to upgrade the CAs and 777 FOs we need we have to put new hires on the 320. They can hold the 737 pilots tell the last day of the bid and then activate them without training and that is exactly what they will do.

VQ2 Spanky 12-10-2014 05:51 AM

Trust me after being on property for two weeks I have no idea how the pick the availability for initial bids. Makes no sense to us. Someone mentioned it's all based on sim availability.

Dear Dec. 9th Class,
There will likely be another Vacancy bid before you're even done with training so things will change.
Later on tonight, perhaps in some dimly-lit noisy location, your perspective may be altered and this somehow won't seem so important...
Drink up and GOD SAVE THE BALL!

It was sooooo loud at the "after party" (Shotgun Willies) I couldn't get any sleep last night at the Cherry Creek Inn. Well done guys!

I thought you would be the one swinging from the chandeliers and chaperoning the 8 ball down to Colfax in search of lively companionship

Hey R1830

You wouldn't happen to have the breakdown for the Jan 13th class would you. I was told the expect that class but have not received the final call as of yet. Assuming it will be in next few days. But would love to see AC slots for that class if you have time.

Cheers

Just curious when you interviewed.

jmcke 12-11-2014 01:00 PM

Do you know if they will be hiring any ERJ-145 co-pilots or if they are hiring for that spot?? Seems we are running low on pilots just wondering

I wouldn't trust any advance information on equipment breakdowns. Don't be surprised if the equipment offered changes between your practice bid and the actual bid.

Go to the regional forum and you can check in there.

United Express is a group of subcontracted carriers. They aren't United employees. Check the Expressjet forums.

jmcke 12-11-2014 03:16 PM

Okay thanks everyone. Sorry for the confusion I am new to this forum

Colfax doesnt get bangin' till at least 0100, but I'm sure you knew that. ;P

r1830 12-11-2014 06:39 PM

I have not heard anything about the classes in January. As someone else stated above, things seem to be in constant flux. Good luck to all that have interviewed.

Almost ... the company gets to decide where new hires go, but the only options the COMPANY has are those vacancies listed above ... they may decide to pump everyone into EWR 737, but can do so only as long as there are vacancies ... once on property, you can bid on any vacancies that come open on a bid ... seems like we have bids almost monthly now.

Yeah, expect the EWR pump.
