If true, that's astonishing and pathetic. Hell, I'm an FO and I buy half wingers beers. YGBSM. I hope that rumor is dead wrong.

FNGs, welcome! Please wear your pin on your tie. We have a LOT of work to do.
Plus, that half wing really ties the room together.

Yep...half wing on your tie could mean FREE beers!

I would say around a year or more (76T). I would highly recommend going 320 if you want IAH. You would get that basically right out of training. Best of luck and welcome!

Excellent thx so much!

A fellow 73 halfwinger

Not true on my Bus in IAH.

Especially if you just spent Super Bowl Sunday night with me at the MSY Airport Hilton.

I'm hoping to hear a damn fine speech from the ball on Wednesday.

Pathetic indeed. Got the IAH tidbit from a halfwinger who was sitting next to me at a pub on my layover in DEN. Said it rarely happened with IAH crews and was asking me if the tradition was dead. My F/O and I told him it wasn't and I promptly took care of his bill for him.

Shame that guys aren't doing the right thing with our new guys. Real chance to get this place going in the right direction, IMO.

Odds are he was probably on JRMAN pay to boot......

A sincere thanks for getting the half-winger's tab :)
As an FO I pick up the tab for half wingers when I run into them because hopefully it will make up for the bad apples in the group.

pilotgolfer 02-03-2015 07:39 AM

I saw a Captain last week with a set of half wings on. I had to ask the question...he said he just liked free beer.

I would have had to check the SCAB list right in front of him......
If he wasn't on it - "Surprised your name isn't here."

Who buys a capt with a half wing beers?

Firsttimeflyer 02-03-2015 10:33 AM

I do on their birthday...but not if they wear a half wing. That just isn't cool.

SurfnFlyer 02-03-2015 01:11 PM

I've been treated very well by folks on the 76T in EWR. I just BATted to the 756 so we'll see how it goes there. Just did 764 IOE and the FOs picked up the tab, but they are L-UAL guys. LCA was AWOL.
I think the half-wing tradition is great and wish we had done it at my regional (ALPA also) where free anything on 1st year pay really makes a difference.

That isn't something that we've discussed but I'm not aware of anyone in the class who does not have at least a four-year degree.

There is one former (one-term) US Congressman in the class...

Seniority in class is based on age. Youngest bids last.

Monkeyfly 02-07-2015 03:04 PM

Did anyone in this class get bids to other bases?

They had some I.T. problems that preventing anyone from getting a bid in before the close. They are trying to manually award the base transfers to those who wanted to bid them but were prevented from doing because of the I.T. problem.

Actually its unfair calling them problems since our I.T. not working is actually the status quo.
