how's IAH looking for new guys these days?

IAH 737 Shrinking.

IAH A320 Growing. If you are junior, you will want to be on the Airbus or you won't move up for some time since IAH 737 will probably continue to shrink by attrition.

Your original question for DEN: the bottom 737 guy who is not on a leave appears to be a Feb 2008 hire (CAL side). UAL equivalent would be 2000-2001.

There is a active new-hire below that, but I think he is being bumped to EWR...chart was hard to interpret.

I'm just hangin onto a line at 75% seniority on the 757 DEN FO with 17 years on property. Of course all of us 757 FOs here can hold Gup Capitan other places...(no bids in DEN) but this is CO, and it's ski season.

Thank you guys for all your contributions for those of us with endless questions! From what I gather Airbus/737 will get a new hire out to SFO/LAX within a few months is that correct? If given the choice between either of those and not much of a preference between SFO/LAX would the 737 be the best option for future movement?

Well I guess the good news is a lot of those guys are super senior and most likely retiring much sooner!

A narrowbody is your best bet for getting the west coast sooner. SFO is junior to LAX on the 737 and 320 fleets (and probably all the others, too, I just haven't looked). For some reason 320 relative seniority in SFO is higher versus 737 (for me), but the company fleet plans suggest more vacancies on the 737 going forward and thus more opportunities to lateral there from another base. As long as you don't get seat-locked on the 757 out of initial training I don't think it would take more than a few months to get an SFO slot.

737 or A320 will keep more options open since you can bid to a bigger category (757) even with a freeze on the 737 / 320 . You CAN'T bid down with a freeze.

Just curious where an LAX base is in the seniority rankings. I actually want IAH if I am fortunate enough to get hired but the wife wants to stay in SoCal. I told her that is impossible the first few years, for both seniority reasons and financial.

LAX used to be jr and I think it will again in the future. You should be there before the 2 year mark though.
