UAX baggage problems in DEN

Saw this article and had to share. Make billions in profit, then screw your workers and customers even harder. You get what you pay for.

"I was told it's been like this for the last few days," Tonini said. "The employee told me Simplicity has only about 20 percent of the people they need to do the work. They can't get anyone to come work for $8 an hour, so that's why they're short-staffed."

This is what happens when you outsource to the lowest cost provider. Makes United look terrible. Great decision management.

It gets even better:

Before push yesterday, Lead FA says she needs more water, and short some soup for first class.

Find out, effective two days ago, soup for only 40% of first class; ONE carton of milk (for coffee) for ALL of coach!!! And four bottles of water for the whole airplane!!

VP who came up with Simplicity? Should be fired. VP who came up cheapening inflight? Fired.

On second thought, drawn quartered, fired, and made into soup. use one of the four bottles of water for stock-base.

"A pizza so cheap..." Indeed.

Unbelievable.

Yep on Sunday had to wait an hour for skis almost missed my shuttle

Jaded N Cynical 02-03-2015 12:45 PM

But it looked like it would work on paper according to eternal study of the numbers. Hopefully one day we will have VPs that understand the business, and not have their collective noses stuck reading stats in a corner office in Willis Tower.

Is that 4 bottles of water before or after the cockpit takes their 2?:D

Still to be determined.

We were a "Priority STAR Flight," got a message saying so.

We told ops we had only four bottles, asked for another case. They said "You've been properly catered; don't delay push."

757-300 filled to capacity.

God help us.

UAL earnings on 1/22, stock 12 month peak on 1/26. Mgmt. bonus extracted. That's all that matters. They probably hired Simplyschitty just to get the little bit extra of profit for earnings season.

Simplicity. Friendly.

... lol

Did they bring more before you pushed?

That would have been a definite yes on my flight plus a few more for emphasis!

Only a CA with no balls or regard for the inflight crew would push without getting a case.

Capt told the Lead: "We're not pushing until you are happy." She said she was good with what they had.

Simplicity has nothing to do with mainline operations

Regularguy 02-04-2015 06:59 AM

A UAL DIA rapper told me face to face, because of the shortage UAL was loaning UAX personnel until the got their staffing correct. Thus mainline is now understaffed and over stressed in DEN.

That's what I heard too.

I love it. Makes me want to watch Soul Plane, again.

So, are the mainline ramp guys going to come pull their own connecting bags out of the bin on my RJ?

They always waive-n-cave for the "on time".

If they wait the crew gets the delay and nothing goes against the station. A beautiful system.

CO's record haul on pot tax might explain somethings.

If the crew is blamed for the delay you get an ACARS message stating that. You can correct the delay by providing a party to blame (i.e. catering) and stating the reason for the delay (lack of proper catering)

He was willing to wait. And, he is high enough up the chain to tell them to stick it. But when she said she could go with what we had, not much to stand on.

I too was told by a ramper that Mainline is being raided on the DEN ramp to support the Soup Kitchen ramp (ie, only the homeless would take that job).

"Record" as in it's a new revenue stream for taxes. But it actually fell pretty short and was overestimated how much would be generated.
