Thanks..That's convenient I suppose. Good luck!

There hasn't been a single slot in Houston since the Jan class. I thought they were ramping up the 320 in IAH..

If you take a look over the last year plus of information provided here the running trend is EWR. Many folks talk about getting to IAH and other domiciles before leaving training or soon there after.... IMHO - Newbies FNGs, Poolies,....myself included in these stereotypes, should probably plan on starting life in EWR (with a few exceptions) and moving on from there, if they desire. The tri-DC airport area with the projected growth of the 73 may open up some slots .. but when is anyone's guess.... Just a poolie interpreting the public forum (that will get you in trouble)..... waiting to get to training!!!:D S6 |
When did u interview Scooter
|
Great to hear all the folks going to class. I interviewed 1/27, was told beginning of April, crossing my fingers that phone rings soon!
If anyone hears news of a 3/31 class, I'd love to know! I'll certainly post if I hear anything as well. Congrats all, CS72 |

However, here's my A-320 new hire case as an example (this is the good part). I just finished my first and only three days of reserve in EWR...my only three days...ever. :D I start in SFO next month (days off until then). I live in Sacramento, so it is a drive-able commute, albeit a nasty one at times as it took 4 hours to get home tonight from OET class due to the ridiculous Friday afternoon traffic. The key here was that a vacancy bid came open while I was in the indoc class and I was awarded the lateral from EWR to SFO. It had an effective date of 1 April, but pilot planning moved the date up 1 month to 2 March. Pretty darn awesome...no complaints here. |

Would I be wrong to think that for those in the 17th class that want to be out West and we get the 756, we can plan to be easily 1.5 years in EWR/DCA until we get out West? |

That could be a fairly good assumption, unless you could get to IAH on it.

For example: The company said last summer that the next 12 months of new hire classes would be all in EWR, yet here we are with IAD and IAH being assigned in Indoc. Every vacancy bid, each position goes more junior, so at some point we are just going to have more vacancies everywhere (except probably DEN). Two things are most likely, there will be vacancies in EWR for a long time, and other bases will have openings as well. But its really hard to say it will take 1.5 years to get to SFO on the 767 fleet just because that's how long it took the guys right now. Also when the 787 fence falls in December a lot of guys will certainly bid over for better pay and seniority and that will shake things up as well. At least that's my observation after watching the last 19 years of staffing happen. |

Is IAH going to guys with less than 1.5 years on the 756 as of right now? Thanks!

31. 32 by class time. Not sure if I'll have a choice but would probably try for the 756. Would love to get back to ORD eventually.

I think you and I (32 years old) will have no problem with a 756 slot as I only know of one other guy younger than both of us in class. Looking forward to meeting you on the 17th!

I'm in for the 17th and definitely looking forward to starting, and meeting everyone else in the class also! 39, 10K+TT, 5K+TPIC, a few other items on the resume. Leaning towards 737 but 756 would also be more than fantastic.
I'm curious about the class drops if anyone can shed some light on how they work. As an example, if an earlier class has only EWR 737 slots but a following class offers SFO 737 slots are SFO slots likely available to the earlier class by the time one's out of training? As a different question, if an earlier class has only 737 and 756 slots but a later class offers Airbus slots, are those off limits to the earlier class? Thanks for any input. I have a lot to learn and appreciate the comments on the other threads about seniority in bases, bidding, changing aircraft, etc. |
The drop is provided to class on day 1 and you get to select on day 2 by seniority... Class drops are pre determined by vacancies on previous pilot vacancy bids only.
Once you get a awarded a base/fleet on day 2 you are then at the mercy of future vacancy bids announced by company and can only be awarded if your new seniority can hold the base and fleet to fill a vacancy. In other words "who knows". Important to note you are seat locked for 2 years once you start training except if you bid a larger aircraft category or bid to captain (not option). If you desire SFO best bet IMO is 737 based on recent bids and fleet planning announcements. |

As a junior guy on RSV how often will see that good flying you mention, or will we likely be plugging holes throughout the system?
As far as commuting or variety go EWR 756 has the best flying. LearJet |
So, a different classes page has said no more EWR for this month I believe. Does anyone know if our drop has changed?
