Trip Trading
How do you guys/gals like the pilot to pilot and company trip trade systems? Are you able to rearrange your schedule a bit or not so much? And reserve? How does it compare to other carrier's systems like DAL or SWA? Thanks for all the info. Still trying to analyze the reality of junior life going forward, especially as a commuter!

from what i've seen the only trip trades that are approved are for one/one swaps on same dates or more dates (to include coverage of original trip)… if not "No reserve coverage" is what I've found is the norm for 76T. For example, 3 day that starts on the 20th… if I trip trade and pickup a 4 day on the 19th it will more than likely go through the wickets… but if I put in a 3 day on the 19th it yes the "no reserve coverage" denial message.

Right on, thanks. Sounds like you get what you get, and don't plan on being able to change that! Was looking at the Southwest trade system, pilot to pilot and with company which was pretty impressive as far as flexibility. Apples to oranges though I suppose.

Pilot to pilot is an option… i've never done it myself but now that Crew Companion is available to all of us there are bulletin boards to advertise trips you want to dump or swap.
Trip trading flexibility has been non existent since we lost bad day worst day. If we are ever get it back then your ability to move days around increases exponentially. |
Bigmacdaddy,
Step 1. U get your magical pbs award. Step 2. Determine which days dont quite work out for your life outside the airline... Step 3. Submit vac drops, straight drops, trip ads, trades, barters, sell your children thru the sen trade system. Step 4. After step 3 is denied, hit the "sick call" button under the "scheduling" tab. Nice system, real nice... |
Thanks for the insight all, any thoughts on this improving in the future? Forgive my ignorance, but what is bad day worst day?

Outside a few instances trip trade will remain as useless as teats on a bull for the foreseeable future. Crew Companion is a pretty new expensive interface to a largely useless system. Get used to "NO COVERAGE" bigmacdaddy and find other ways to enjoy your existence after winning the big brass ring at a major.
lol....(sigh, tear) As the say in Newark.....fuggedaboudit. |

Here's the gist of it: Lets say I had a 3 day trip on 28th I wanted to move. I would call crew scheduling and trade for any 3+ day trip in open time earlier in the month as long as the reserve coverage was better on the 28th than the days I wanted. If we used today for example, 03/18/15. There is going to be significantly less reserves the next few days than on 03/28/15. So I'd be able to trade into any trip those days and drop the trip I didn't want later in the month. With PBS I would try to bid days off earlier in the month and back load my schedule at the end of the month to work more knowing I could move a trip forward at some point increasing hours and/or improving commutability. |
