I doubt they have any organized plan to accomplish anything. The agent i spoke with made it sound like everyone was just generally ****ed off and unmotivated. Same goes for the outstation i commute from....who are being displaced...

I remember when EWR laid off a bunch of rampers around Christmas when the new baggage system went into place. Talk about nuts.

Anyway, if our company managers want people who give a crap, then they should hire people who do give a crap, and have a reason to give a crap.

IN Baton Rouge, the United Express workers are all hired from American Eagle. Who's flight do you think gets worked if they are both on the ground on the same time?

NOTE to self: If I want this company to succeed, outsourcing time sensitive, al-be-it lowly manual labor positions is not a good idea. Out-sourcing leads to failure, failure leads to hate, and hate leads to the dark side. I think Yoda had this one nailed.

A few articles in the paper in JAX say that United is laying off hundreds of longtime workers at the airport but giving them the "opportunity" to reapply at the new contractor that will be put in place.

That should work out well.

You are correct, it was 66 in JAX only. Article referenced the hundreds around Florida.

Sounds similar to what every other airline is doing. Delta has done it all over the place...some places twice!, spirit did it, frontier just cut 1000+ in denver and did the same offer to come back to the contract company for less pay and benefits.

I don't know. I could only find where Delta has cut at DTW, MSP, and MEM as they combined hubs and actually had too many people with NWA merger. In the articles dating back to 2012 for Delta, the people were offered jobs at other stations but not contracted out at the hubs.

Our JAX station has CS agents that have been there for years and even get profit sharing.

If your trying to build a brand, you need to have employees invested in that brand's success.

Regional elite and DGS are the two companies I remember that took over for skywest, delta, ASA, Comair stations to name a few.

Uhh, Delta created a company simply so they could get rid of all their current employees and hire them back to do the same job with worse benefits and minimum wage pay. They all do it unfortunately.

I believe Alaska went through some similar times a few years back. They started outsourcing and of course there we're definitely growing pains. Horizon took it on the chin as well iirc. Any Alaska folks care to comment?
