Seen it several times before. 3 year captains and hiring 100 a month into a furlough.

But it could never happen here again!

How's that age 67 thing going? Is there another senior pilots coalition out there ginning up to fight age 65 and push it to 67?

Talk about a career path killer.

If we go to 67, that will tell allot of perspective pilots not to spend the cash on their ratings. No need to get stuck at a regional while Kirby chops away at scope on one end and we give up the pooty with some crappy age 67 legislation.

stop moving the friggin goal posts already.

This whole notion of upgrades and predicting upgrades goes out the window once you go age 67.

Can we get our LTD over payments back please?

John Prater wanted it bad. I think publicly he played his cards close to the vest. But ALPA was saying allot privately. Sure didn't fight it.

All Age 67 would do is push all those retirement figure columns to the right by 2 years. Hardly any difference. People would stagnate for 24 months, that's hardly a big deal.

It’s a big deal for the guys not yet on a mainline seniority list.

Signed,

A former 12 year RJ guy.

I started in 2007 before the December Age 65 signing. I was right seat RJ my whole time at a regional so I remember that too. Still don't think Age 67 will have as large an impact as guys are thinking. It's not on the horizon though and certainly no public comments are open via FAA so it's not on the plate right now.

Beg to differ here. Who says I or lots of others want to keep working that long? Maybe folks want to punch out and enjoy retirement before they die or go senile. Statistically, pilots don’t live all that long. I point that out because “getting” another 2 years to work will really hurt people who don’t want to fly until we die. 65 is old enough!

Giant can of worms.

There are plenty of people who will stick around. One need look no further than the number of people who left when they hit 60. Which was what, 10 percent? 7?

1. Health insurance increase delayed
2. Delaying SS, or simply taking it and investing it
3. Delaying taking funds out of your 401k (the BIGGIE in my view)
4. Part-time work? (if flying reduced hours for those over 65..)
5. High hourly rate for WB types, late in their career and 16%
6. Sick leave, vacation

Four 3-day trips to EU per month? Hard to walk away from that unless you got hired young at the beginning of a wave, married well or have a second business.

I think it would cut the legs out from under aspiring pilots looking to move into the profession and move up the ladder.

2 years is a big deal. Our profession is just now starting to come back. I would have to see it stagnate for 2 full years just so guys can cash more pay checks. Really, no justification to allow it, and most certainly none to justify it.

LTD premiums would skyrocket. The young pilots would have to subsidize the older ones.

Does any of the ALPA carriers have any standing MEC or LC resolutions prohibiting ALPA from allowing or considering it? I would love to know where the full ALPA membership stands on this.

I am not a proponent of age 67 but your LTD argument is a lame duck. It didn’t happen for age 65 there won’t be much difference for 2 more years.
