Uniforms
Hi all,
SkyWest pilot here lucky enough to get the call for a class soon. I have about 200 bucks left in my uniform account here at SkyWest and am thinking about grabbing a new bag. However, my current rig is still good for a few more commutes and was wondering about what overcoat is used. I currently have the black Perrone bomber jacket. Is that allowed? It is aesthetically similar to the Gibson and Barnes model if that is still in use. Secondly, how about overcoats? Black, blue... other? We use M and H so I was hoping it may be the same model as the UAL coat... Otherwise I'll grab that new bag. I have to spend the money or lose it. I am looking for the official jacket as I don't want to be the guy with the odd coat or non-matching uniform etc.... Looking forward to joining the team. |
Get the new bag. You'll be issued an overcoat. You'll need a blank patch for the Velcro on your leather jacket to pin your wing onto.

Thanks! Off to training.
|
Get the bag and your jacket should be close enough to keep CPO away. In training Buy extra couple pants... 2 is all they issue at Denver. Overcoat provided as well as 4 shirts, hat, jacket, wings, emailers, and tie. Congrats.

I heard there's a local place in Denver people go to get better quality shirts? Also, what are the rules, if any, on the leather jacket? |
I'm taking a gues that autocorrect changed epulettes to emailers. The M&H shirts are garbage. I prefer A Cut Above shirts, but others might have different suggestion.

The quality of the stuff seems to be better than what we received at skyw. The Hats here are much improved too.

Too bad the company doesn't issue a large dose of humble pie when Pilots pass through the portals of TK. Last two SkyWest new-hires I flew with were extremely arrogant and pretended they were still safely ensconced in the left seat of the CRJ jet they had just left. Couldn't believe the cockiness of these guys and with one I informed him that I'd be dropping his name in the pro-stans box.
Isn't a condemnation of all the great SkyWest people I fly with but two brand new guys in a row with super egos and attitudes, really??? Tip for those of you joining us here. You're not the Captain anymore and it goes a long way to show up and not try and run the show. Guaranty you I'll be keeping an eye on the Captain wanna-be and if it happens again, will take it a lot further than Pro-Stans. Very glad to have all of the great new hires coming to UAL and food and drinks are always on me for the half-wingers who get the big picture. |
You must be a cPT.
You would elevate a half-winger above pro-standards assuming that would be the Chief Pilot ? Since he/she is on probation you would jeopardizing their entire career because you fail to mentor a new-hire ?! |

Skywest pilots are the elite best of the best. Back when Reginals lowered their mins to 500 hours, Skywest still required 1000! You know they only hand picked elite guys. And mr 757 Captain, Skywest pilots are totally not cocky at all.

Again, don't launder your dirty laundry in public.
If you don't think the guy is worth saving, call ALPA rep, kick him of the flight and let your flight office know. It really is that simple and there is no need to discuss it on a public forum. Sounds to me like another new hire mentored by FBN. |
