This is my hang up with the TA as well... B scales suck, that's what this is. The question I keep going over is: Is it better to recapture the flying now (with a B scale), or drag this out and try to eliminate a potential C scale when the company brings these airframes on property? There's is no doubt in my mind that these planes are coming. But do we agree to fly them for a B scale, or do we fly them for a company imposed C scale? Don't think that can happen? Read section 3. Within 6 months of an order being announced there will be a pay scale, and there is no leverage on our part to keep the planes from flying.

If this TA passes, it also gives DALPA ammunition to get a higher pay rate. Pattern bargaining. I don't think that one should overlook how these pay rates help DALPA get higher pay rates. This TA is low hanging fruit and will help other airline pilots negotiate for higher pay rates.

Yes, I understand all of the tradeoffs in contract negotiations painfully well. I don't buy the argument that this doesn't help DALPA; several here have posted how much better DALPA's openers are dollarwise. It's a lot easier to get a higher dollar number if a competitor already has that payscale. As far as the section 6 stuff, DALPA can go for pilot pay being the full 10.85% of revenues in their compensation package. Is this TA perfect? No. But it's good. Perfect is the enemy of good. |

Did you see this communication from Southwest? They seem to think that United's TA helps them. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ua...an-update.html |

What would you rather have. CS100/300 on mainline or on regional property.
I'm sorry but RJs or any new Large RJ flying must be at mainline. When will you learn. I've watched Dal, UAL, AAL guys all **** and moan about regional planes, regional pilots, regional payrates when they and their predecessors created the problem. It sure isn't the regional guys problem he has to get to mainline after trying to work his way through a regional. Even worst case as it is, lowest payrates go to FOs. 3-5 near upgrades even at close to narrow body FO rates. You/We are realiativly protected. Better to be stuck on a large RJ at those payrates then double furloughed and then tossed to the wolves for longevity. Let alone a pilot at "mainline" is a captain while you are a double furloughed guy with 13+ years longevity but are junior to them. Would you guys rather have that with the possibility to get downgraded to such, or would you rather be furloughed and then come back without seniority, without longevity, without pass travel benefits etc...... |
I heard if we vote no the company will come back to us in 5 business days with a 69% raise and everyone gets a pony.
