kidding me?
why not order A320s and get more actual space?
so now we'll have hip mood lighting to help us chill as we angle our legs and shoulders to stay within the tightly curving guppy interior cabin walls, and as we sweat our boxers all wet because ua south guppy caps think 78 degrees in the cabin with the apu off is just fine. what a horrible ride we offer. just my opinion folks

Can you clarify who exactly is "ua south"?

Well, since you brought it up, I'll join the fray. I TOTALLY agree about the frickin' sauna that almost every 737 I sit in is.
No idea why Captains think it's a fine idea to start the APU 5 min before push with no air on a full plane. Yesterday, on a flight I was on, the APU spun up minutes prior to push and the packs remained off until after engine start. Nowadays, as soon as I get on the plane and it's hot, I make a left and say "Hey Guys! It's really hot back here!" I usually get a surprised stare.
Customer service Captains!

I do the same as you. and I get the same surprised stare you get.

and it's always a 5'7 little fat guy with a Texas drawl in the left seat.

just noting what I seem to always observe on my deadheads

I'm not of course absolutely certain that it's the ua south gup caps who think 80 degree saunas during boarding is worth the 30 bucks they save the Boston fund managers, but I'm sayin it always seems to be a short fat guy with a Texas twang. and those guys are often ua south boyz. live in big Texas planned communities. drive extended cab trucks. eat barbecue. you know ?

and they look at me like a space alien when I ask them to start the damn apu and cool the cabin

Commute on both, the guppy is always hot, rare on the Airbus.

Having flown them both, there is no doubt that the ground air is MUCH more effective on the A320 for some reason.

That being said, the cockpit is usually cooler than the cabin, so it's hard to tell if it's warm in the back. Some stations have excellent ground air, but most do not. So it's part of my "summer brief" to the FA's to let me know if it is warm in the back. But it is a challenge for sure on the NG. What ain't on that airplane?? The reason the FO does EVERYTHING in that airplane is because it takes me so long to wedge my fat arse into the seat that we are cleared to push before I can get my iPad out

The Guppy is hot because, (1) the captain is too lazy to take the initiative to determine the actual cabin temps, (2) blindly follows perceived apu policy aside from cabin temps, (3) the fo either doesn't advocate or is ignored when does.

...and, it's twice as long as the original design, but probably still has just two Packs!

This isn't rocket science. It can be kept cool.
