Whatever their preferred method is. Phone, email, horse and carriage... You know what I mean, thanks.
|
best joke ever...
|
Most guys have to wait like 30-45 seconds to get a response. There is such a shortage of pilots.

Thank you everybody else for the responses. Relax!! You're a newbie here, and you'll realize this is how most threads go. I suggest a sense of humor or to stay away, seriously. :p |

UAL has nearly 10,000 pilot applications on file and will hire another 300 (or so) in 2016. Simple math explains that not everybody who applied is gonna get a call this year nor are applicants called in the order in which they applied. You are asking a question that does not have a specific answer. |
About 6 years and counting. At WAI was able to sit down with Delta and United. Haven't heard a peep from United but got the interview invite from Delta about 2 weeks later.

Yes, this is accurate, thank you. But that wasn't my question. I was hoping to hear from people who received an interview and how long it took him/her. Thanks.

My app has been on file since 2012. One guy I know who just got hired had his app in for six years. Another guy I know had his app in for twelve years. I see zoomies getting out of the Air Force with an interview offer within weeks. And I also see zoomies who have gotten out of the Air Force years ago who are still waiting. Some guys get the call in a few weeks. Some guys get the call in a few months. Some guys get the call in a few years. Some guys never get the call. The OP's question is open-ended and has an infinite amount of possible answers. Why is water wet? What makes a woman tick? These are questions easier answered than the OP's question. |

For all the guys that got a call back within weeks, let me just say.... screw off!!!
For all the guys that it took years, a ton of recommendation foraging, a check airman letter, a bunch of volunteer positions, a career fair or two, 1000s of hours of TPIC, and a lot of worrying, let me just say that it will happen. I know it can be frustrating but hang in there. It will happen. |
It was 19 months for me. Over 10,000 hours when I first applied. I was in class less than six months after the first email contact.
|
Over 4 years for me. I was not at all qualified when I started applying. Just kept it up and worked on different ways to "check boxes". Stayed optimistic and pushed for it and finally got the call. Never gave up.
|
Okay great.. thanks for all the replies.
|
The problem with your question is there is no real answer. How long it takes depends on each individual and their situation. You can't say that based on X quals, it will take Y time.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. |

....that really was your question, huh? |
It took almost exactly a year after applying and getting a cp rec to getting the first email. From the time I got the initial email to the time I was in class was approximately 2.5 months. I attended a job fair, had multiple internal recs. I'm a heavy mil guy mostly. I know guys that are still waiting after multiple years, and others that got the hogan invite after applying only 2 months earlier. There really is no way to know what your timeline will look like.
Good luck! |
I've been applying for four years...
Been told repeatedly that I have a great app. |

They are not necessary but very helpful to a great amount of people. Plus, if the person out there, who is grouchy and says "I wont go to those job fairs".......well the career fair events might be serving a part of their purpose... and that is to filter out those that can't deal well in a modern corporate diverse environment. |
