STL Mainline

Great news for the healthy population of us United pilots fighting for space on 50 seat RJs in/out of St. Louis....I don't think it's been announced by company yet but starting approx 16 August, every day except Saturday sees the resumption of 2 x 737s ORD and 1 x 737 DEN in addition to the previous lone Summer daily mainline 737 to/from SFO. I have to guess that's not just a seasonal "upgauge" starting so late in Summer and it bumps some 75-seaters into 50-seat slots to boot. The things us commuters get excited about heh? Cheers, BK

Did it in the 320 to SFO in Dec. Nice layover!

Not a commuter (yet) but that's great news.

Cheers!

This is good news and with all the 737-700s and A319s arriving it's just the tip of the iceberg.

Can we tell management to keep their RJ's out of New Orleans?

That's great STL is putting bigger equipment back in there, but we've gotta start taking back the high yield domestic stuff. We've sent way too much traffic over to SWA over the last 15 years due to the RJ craze.

Hopefully mainline will fly into Destin-Ft. Walton Beach (VPS) or Pensacola (PNS) soon via IAH and/or DCA.

Didn't we pull out of VPS last year?

In the CAL days we had over full 737's in and out of PNS. It was mad. Now it's got just RJ's from what I can tell. The RJ's are really not helping to keep up customer relations. I have seen too many people getting bumped when there is weather and they need for fuel something other than a paper alternate. It's bad enough just hauling 50 people in a cramped cigar tube. But, when you've gotta bump 4 to 6 pax due to wx/fuel that makes the already silly situation even wackier. The RJ is simply not a good machine for most of the markets it is serving.

I've lived near VPS for over 2 years and have only seen RJ's in and out of the two airports.

DAL has started flying their MD88's & B717's to both since last spring and what I've seen, are always full.

DAL has five mainline jets a day from PNS; usually two are 757s....on a 40-minute flight to ATL!

It's definitely time for us to fly our 319/320 or 737 into VPS and/or PNS.

All the military bases and tourists use DAL because of the ease. It's time to take back some business in the FL Panhandle!
