Binder clips. Sounds ridiculous, but very useful and cheap. Great for holding sun Shades in place and for keeping light out in the hotel rooms... Fwiw.

In hotels several hangars usually have clips. Great for sealing the curtains together.

I'll second that!
Works like a charm and I can apply the saved twenty-five cents I didn't have to spend on a binder clip toward my next beer.:D

Sorry, I thought you were going to say, the van driver tip...

I use the hangars with clips to close the drapes at hotels if necessary.

I've been using the same travel pro luggage now for 16 years. I changed out the wheels with inline skate wheels about 11 years ago. Still rolls great.

Since they recently added a prohibition for using opaque sun screens/shades, get these translucent cellophane sheets, available just about anywhere, and have a few of them laminated in 10 mil plastic at an office supply chain (office max, staples). Blocks sun and stiff enough to jam into a window. In the end, about $3 each.

After 3 months (I did abuse them dragging them around on the NYC subway) the Luggage Work bags looked terrible and had plenty of ripped pockets and broken zippers. My Strong Bags still look mostly new and are a few lbs lighter.

Do you fly the Guppy?
The doghouse rips the LW pockets.

For those with the costco bag, does it fit okay in overhead bins? I commute on everything from CRJ, Airbus, to 737. I know it'll get gate checked for a CRJ, how does it hold up to the abuse?

Currently commuting with the thing. Haven't put it in the smaller rj overhead bin but it fits wheels out or in on the guppy and bus no problem.

Handles the abuse fine, even with a 60lb luggage works savage sitting on it in the guppy cockpit.

Damn right, Skippy!

Of course, the huge rolls of fat cascading over one's two-sizes-too-small pants aren't doing one any good either.

And make sure to wear your old wings.

This fits, you need to guide the front corner into the bin because it snags sometimes.

If you don't like jackasses stuffing their bags on top of yours just pick yours up and put it in an overhead bin. That guppy bag storage cheese grader sucks no matter what what kind of bags you have.

"Everything is organized and goes back in the same place. With this case I can fit a 13" laptop, company iPad, personal iPad mini, kindle and all my chargers/cables."

Um, I may have found your problem....

FWIW, my Purdyneat (AKA LW) is going on 18 this year. Been back twice for zippers and through 2 sets of wheels, one handle and two kick plates (all DIY) and still keeps on ticking.

I gotta ask, is your bag still black or shading green? Like a worn pair of jeans.

Depends on natural, or flourescent light. ;)

I had to send mine back for a zipper after 10 years.

Replaced the crappy aluminum handle (which broke during a trip) with the stainless steel...it will last longer than I will.

I added a small piece of thin angle-steel on the bottom kickplate edge, since the aluminum being dragged over rocks or curbs was grinding it away.

It too will last forever.

The rivets are a weak point. The three that have failed I replaced with AN-3/series aircraft bolts with self-locking nuts (sts).

Wheels were getting hard to spin. Was going to replace them, and when I took the bolts out, found the bearings were covered with hair and carpet fuzz.

Cleaned it, packed new grease in the bearings (Fafnir; a good aircraft-quality brand), and they are great now, too.

Yeah, there are others that are lighter, cheaper, or fit in the overhead of an RJ, but mine has history.

Plus, everyone used them when I got in the biz. It just LOOKS like an airline pilot's bag! :D

I liked mine too, it just didn't last. It didn't last a day longer than a travelpro, back when they were twice the price of a travelpro.

I commute, and I'm tired of lifting my LW bag into the overhead. I'm trying to decide between the Costco bag and the LW Stealth Air with side pockets ($290). I'd like to give the Costco bag a try, but I'm not sure I can live without side pockets.

For the layover, you'll need faded Lee jeans, a cellphone holster and some white tennis sneakers. (These are all protection from any possibility of catching STD's.)
