Discount 20 Tickets

Anyone know how to change a booking on Discount 20 tickets after you've bought them?

I know there's a time limit, I'm currently within 24 hours after purchase, and it's the same city pair. I'm looking at the same dates, just different times. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Log onto united.com. If you don't have a mileage plus account attached to the reservation you can view the reservation via locator# and last name.

Main Screen ==> Reservations ==> Manage Reservations ==> (Select Reservation) ==> Change Flights

Note that just because it's the same dates does not mean the fare will be the same.

If that does not permit what you want, cancel the reservation for a refund (as mentioned---within 24 hours) and buy a new one.

Can we get any kind of credit on unused tickets? I assume they are use them or lose them. Thanks.

For future reference: We bought a one way discount 20 ticket but ended up going standby on an earlier flight. We called customer service before the original flight was supposed to leave and we were given a voucher for the amount good for one year.

For further future reference.....FYI, don't do this (standby and ticket on same city pair on the same day ).

It is an express violation of the travel policy and can result in big problems. We can all thank fellow employees for causing this problem.

I don't think that's entirely correct. The UA discount ticket is written as flight specific, it is not open ended. The policy states:

  • Employees, retirees and their eligible pass riders traveling on a myUAdiscount ticket may not standby for flights included in their myUAdiscount ticket itinerary.
I think you can try to pass ride on an earlier flight without a problem.

Cool. That's a change, then.

Thanks!

After the 24 hour cancellation period are we subject to the $200 change fee? Any way around this? Doesn't seem like a great deal to have a $200 fee on a $70 ticket.

You could easily buy a full fare fully refundable ticket. If it $70 doesn't t sound like a good deal then don't roll the dice. You always have options.

The things we complain about is astounding sometimes.
