I stayed at the Qualty Inn last week. The crew rate was $50.23 out the door and they had a breakfast included (cereal, toast, coffee, juice, make your own waffles, etc). They have a restaurant / bar there too. The shuttle service is free but it is the shuttle for an off airport parking lot (Avistar?) that is across the street from the hotel. There is no set van time in the morning, you have to wait for them to swing by as they continuously loop between the airport, parking lot, and the hotel. Given the rate, the rooms are good enough to get a decent night sleep. The shuttle service (being outsourced!) is the weak link here, especially for an early morning departure I would imagine.

I was also at the Best Western recently too. I watched a Cubs game at Shoeless Joes and that is a good joint for that as noted above. The crew rate out the door there was $68.40. The room was nicer than the Quality Inn and they have their own transportation.

The short layover for pilots (FA's inbound from red eye flights still use the Hilton) is now The Loews hotel ORD. Super nice/excellent gym/restaurant/bar/across from mall and two hour laundry service (expensable) for drycleaning. Give them a call.

Looks like the Quality went up on their price. I stayed there for around 3 weeks when I was commuting...with a 2hr call out on reserve, never a problem. If money isn't an object, the BW might be a better option.

Its been 5 years but I used to use the ALOFT primarily. it used to 50-60 bucks.

The Quality is a dump I will never stay there again no matter how cheap it is. I make to much money to sleep in that filth....

I wasn't a big fan of the best western either it was substandard 5 years ago, I can't imagine it is any better.

Don't know about commuter hotels. If you are looking for a crash pad, it's a bit more expensive, but I highly recommend Blocked Inn. Google it for ORD. Blocked INN Crash pads : About Us : History of our Crashpads

You have your choice of price levels. It's off the L, 15-20 min direct to the airport, regardless of WX.

The mold induced respiratory distress is free, though.
