Friend of United
|
He was certinally a great golfer.
He was also a close personal friend and business partner of one Dick Ferris, former CEO of UAL and chief architect of the pilot strike in 1985---AKA UAL's "Lorenzo." (Hint: Google "Arnold Palmer Richard Ferris". ;) ) |

He may very well have been a friend of UAL but I'm less convinced he was a friend of UA pilots. :( |
So let me see if I get this right...
Palmer's became friends with Ferris. Ferris later rose to become CEO. Ferris was much disliked by UAL pilots and generally considered a crappy CEO. Therefore, Palmer should be held in contempt by UAL pilots. Do I have that right? |

You might be branded as a company man, scab, management lover, etc.... |
Arnold Palmer was a true legend both on and off the course. Despite a kindred spirt as a pilot he was not our friend.
The two statements are not representative of hate nor are they mutually incompatible. |
