Yes, and without a freeze.

Either. It's at the company's discretion.

Nope.

FWIW, this bump process may seem convoluted, but it offers great protections for pilots from the daily whims of the long term planning committee.

Thanks cadetdrivr!

So is it safe to say, most of those guys are going to wait until the end and take the displacement?

It all depends.

For example, the super senior CA with two years to go might not care about bumping without a freeze since he's already decided where he's gonna ride things out and just wants get on with it.

On the other hand, a bump could very valuable for other pilots as they bump into anything they can hold or test drive another BES and if they don't like, bid something else.

If all they are stuck with is the upgrade lock, I think there will be more then a few who leave the 400 on this vacancy bid. The PS and move are powerful perks for senior guys. And of course HKG goes to 777 in March.

Not a single 400 pilot is listed on today's snapshot.

Sorry you and I must have seen different snap shots. Lots of Capts, and 1 F/O.

I do find it funny that with the Capt bidding off, there is 1 vacancy.

As far as secondary bumps, not likely. They will carry an excess of pilots for several months till people bid off or retire. It's really expensive to train. Cheaper to keep the excess. Why do a secondary bump, when you will have to train in 6 months anyway? But that's just what they'd expect......

Also, you can't just do a bump spur of the moment. It has to be published and follow the contract, which draws the process out a while. Including notification to ALPA of an impending bump.

DOH! I totally screwed up my search term ... rushed to see how many had bid off. Using the correct search term, I found 11 bidding off the 747 plus the one 747 vacancy that you mentioned.

No worries.

So, TK has been decidedly short of common sense since the merger.

If the vacancy on the 747 holds on closing, I wonder it they will really go to training--or just a hiccup anomaly of the automated process that will have to be manually adjusted.

What are the other fish names for the rest of the fleet?

Guppy seems to bother some of the insecure. They think they are being made fun of.
