Pay Dispute
 
Where do you go to submit a pay dispute?

I was awarded and flew 2 trips in Jan (IOE scheduled and vacation also) for a total of 47.59 hours. I was only paid those hours and not the guaranteed 70 hours for a line holder.

Wondering where to start.

PDR is not the first step. Go to USAW on CCS -> Other Menu and go to the Offerings tab. Then select Pay Claim. Provide the Chapter and Verse of the UPA and I've generally had great success with resolution. On the <5 % of times I haven't, elevating to CPO has fixed it. Only once did I have to have the PDR to resolve it.

However...ALWAYS file a PDR after resolution to document the failure in the pay system. Need to document a history for our union to credibly argue for future changes to the pay system.

First of all, flying done in January will be paid on 2/16 check so you haven't been shorted anything yet. Second point is for a month where you have a mix of training and line flying, you have to calculate your MPG. It won't be 70 hours under the way they calculate a hybrid line. And third, vacation shows up as add pay. I'd have to see what your schedule looked like to calculate your pay.

The way the different buckets of pay work can be confusing until you are screwed over a few times and get to know the system.

Your MPG is calculated as 2:20 per day you are available after training. The 3.0 hours per day for training goes into a different bucket for Line Value. They don't mix and match.

Much easier to calculate if I could see your schedule. PM me your file # and I can tell you what your pay should be...PDR folks can do the same. If your pay is incorrect, there is still plenty of time to get it fixed before payroll closes for January.

Also...read LOA 34 in the contract. This deals with OE Blocker days and calculating MPG and LV.

Hypothetically, if you were u337xxx

OEB first five days...need to know how much you flew on these days. Let's say you flew a 20 hour 4 day for OE. Add this to LV. If you did not fly on any of those days, it would pay 3.0 X 5 or 15 hours LV.

3 TDOs doesn't pay anything.

2 MLA I'm not sure those pay anything. I'm curious that PBS shows 20:36 non flying credit. 15 of that is from the OEBs so I'm not sure if you get 5:36 credit for the MLA days??

VAC day pays 3:15 add pay.

W1168 pays 22:04
W 1191 pays 21:39


Your MPG is 20 days available X 2:20 = 46:40

Your LV is 20:00 (assumption from OE)
22:04 (w1168)
21:39 (w1191)
63:43 total LV

VAC add pay will be another 3:15 so I would expect you to be paid around 66:58 for the month. I don't know how the MLA affects your pay. Maybe you get another 5:36 added in..I'm not an expert in that subject.

Sorry if I was nosy but it was sort of easy to figure you out based on vacancy award and looking at PBS awards.

Tank21, I was off for almost 3 months due to some shoulder surgery and one day when I was really bored I went thru my Pay Advice for the previous year to my shock and amazement, my monthly pay for reserve went from anywhere starting at 63 hours to 68 hours. As you know, Reserves get 73hr Guarantee. I called the Pay Desk and their response was "File a pay claim on CCS" CCS was brand new to sUAL pilots but after a while, I had the pay claim filed. I received a check in about 10 days for the pay shortage.

I think you need to fill it out through United Any Where. Good luck, your pay will eventually catch up to you

THIS is the problem. The fact that there is an error in the first place is mind boggling. I NEVER had a mistake on my pay for the first 20 years here. I've found countless ones thr last 2..... never in my favor. I take screen shots after every trip, every trade, every leg over, every DH deviation. More often than not, I have to file a pay claim. The latest funny is that when you try to file a pay claim with the new system, it erases your description when you enter the month and occurance date on the company iPad. PDR filed

Glad you got your rightful pay. Now this is not meant to be a slam against you, but I'm curious as to why going through your pay advice was something you did after a year? Why is this not something every pilot or even every worker period is not monitoring on a weekly/monthly basis?

That is one thing, of many, that my father instilled in us growing up: always verify your pay and don't just trust your employer won't short change you no matter how good your boss or company appears to be. They are words I have followed since my very first job.

Yes, it is the Company's job to pay employees correctly, but how do you know if you don't check for yourself? My family and personal life depend on my income. So, "trust but verify" are sage words for anyone.

Pay was NEVER an issue until CCS. We never had to check it because it was spot on with one single screen on Unimatic that showed all changes and the initials with timestamp of who did it and why. It was a huge wake up call to many of us that now we have to spend our free time hunting and pecking through multiple links on CCS making sure the company IT department wasn't screwing us.
