Very blunt and up-front.....and the first time I've heard management (Levy) quoted directly that the A350 might get traded. Very refreshing. |

Very refreshing, indeed.
For the first time in many, many years it appears that UAL just might actually be trying to run an airline. Let's hope the "talk" continues to result in actions. Talk is the easy part and we're not there yet. But if it does, it pretty much validates every customer and employee criticism of the Tilton and Smisek regimes. Here's my fearless aircraft predictions after the dust settles: 777X 330NEO CS100 / CS300 / 320NEO / 321LR (Assuming that we'll still take the 737-9s) |
Refreshing. It sounds as though he's been reading forum posts from 2003 and he has learned from pilots acute business acumen and foresight. And to think that we work for pennies on the dollar when compared to the mucky-mucks. Wonder what took them so long? I'll bet he's using UAL's IT dial-up modem. ;)

If we simplify the regional product they should be able to recover better from IROPS. Spreading that many companies too thinkly across the entire system with multiple hubs makes recovering from a snow storm a nightmare. They are deadheading crews (at the expense of revenure pax) all over creation at the end of a snowstorm trying to pick up the pieces but they don't have the resources or skillful management to do it efficiently.

I could easily see us taking 330NEO and 321NEO LR's in lieu of the 350's. They seem like a logical replacement for the 757/767. I'd love to see the CS100 here as well.

This is awesome... Munoz chided the airport’s administration for building what airport employees call, “the train to nowhere.” Since 1986, United has operated out of what Dulles considers a “temporary” terminal. As a result, in 2010, when the airport built a train to shuttle passengers among terminals, it did not put a stop at United’s current terminal. Munoz noted the airline is paying for a train many of its passengers cannot use. “Someone told me today that, every single day, we are paying $5 per passenger to fund the train that goes nowhere,” Munoz said. “It ****es me off to no end, because it’s just money that could be used in so many different ways if we wanted to do the right thing here.” |
That concourse went up in 1987. At that time, it was projected to be there for only 3-4 years until the permanent one was constructed. Great planning.
