Secondly though, make sure you understand there're absolutely no guarantees you'll ever get a call for an interview. There are plenty of truly fantastic individuals and great pilots who've waited for years to get a call. ..and some have interviewed but are now stuck in our seemingly perpetual pool.
Not trying to sound negative but you need to be realistic. Just search "ups poolies" and you'll realize that getting hired here is an enigma. Some people apply, network, attend numerous job fairs and then wait for months and months or even years. Others apply and get a call within weeks or even days?
Sometimes it boils down to knowing the right people but all too often it's simply about luck.
So know what's important to you (which you seem to do already) but also be smart about increasing your chances of getting hired. Applying "late" might hurt your chances of ever getting that call.
Good luck to you and to all brown wannabes.

It doesn't make sense to delay the process - you are making some pretty big assumptions about how quickly it will happen for you (although it certainly seems to move pretty quick on occasion). Bottom line is just be honest about your availability - and if you get the offer and it changes, you can update it. I interviewed in March with an August availability. I got the CJO in May and it is a great feeling waiting for military retirement and already having a dream job. UPS's willingness to call me so far out from my availability was a major factor in my decision to to commit to them.

Did you attend a job fair?

Congratulations. So you were able to interview five-six months before your availability date; good for you. I just cracked 6 months to mine. I guess pretty soon I will no longer be able to maintain my optimism by blaming my availability date for the lack of progress in my application.

I wear baggy khakis now; my wife hates them. A few shades darker to Pullman would not be a problem.
Cargo over pax
A domicile possibility where I wouldn't commute and my wife would be happy
Stable company-I'd like to add A shares to my B shares
Great pay (after probation) that is the same for all airframes
I could go on, but I have put a lot of thought and research into this decision. Every job has its pluses and minuses, but one can't find his niche from the outside.
