Here we go again.. :-(
This really blows my mind..
The company is absolutely desperate for help, they're cancelling training events because they don't have enough sim and IOE instructors, simulators or training devices, not enough pilots for sim support, they have a plethora of unfilled trips in open time and JA calls on a seemingly daily basis.. So you'd think the company would try their best to work with the pilots to move boxes, right?
Hmm, well, not quite. The brown logic dictates that you should placate the pilots by signing an abiding contract ..and then to announce that you won't abide a specific section of it!
To outsiders looking in - many moons ago ipa pilots lost trips to & from Tel Aviv, Israel and Istanbul, Turkey. Long story behind it, some of us blame specific IPA pilots who refused to fly trips they bid for, others blame the company for using a political crisis in their favor and some same both sides were guilty.
Past history but unfortunately we're still paying for it. Initially our nurps or non-union-replacement-pilots flew those trips and eventually it went to a Turkish airline (MGN).
Our new contract stipulates that by September of 2017 IPA pilots would fly those trips once again. IF there was a delay of any kind the company would pay a fine to the IPA or pilots who'd have flown those trips otherwise. Pretty cut and dry and the company agreed to it.
Well, the company just announced that IPA taking over those trips has been postponed by at least a year. They're using smoke screen excuses for not being able to secure specific slots.. ...and oh, by the way, they decided not pay the penalty either.
To the newbies who believe everything is perfect here - let this be a lesson to you on why our union is so strong. The brown motto - sign a contract, violate it and let them grieve it.
Very disappointing to see - once again, they won a battle but will lose a war..
No Waivers No Favors!

I have to admit. The same blowhards on the Bar & Grill make me laugh.
They have there feathers up like a Peacock over a few JA calls coming out since the Video. Whoop de do. Who cares. As long as the flights are going, UPS doesn't care.
Start strutting around on the B&G when there are at least 5 calls a day on each fleet to the most senior crew members. Not this two or three spattered around over all the fleets.
When there are at least 4 cancellations a day, then go strut. Then maybe UPS will get there Sh*t together and pay up or all of a sudden get a slot.

Now that people are getting royally ****ed off many won't even bother to answer their phones. Very sad development. One would think the company would be doing everything they can to work with us. They need our help! Yet their actions make line pilots (and mechanics) even more resentful than they already were.. Not a smart leadership style.. I must be new here?

Lame. Their word means nothing to these people. We "paid" for this at the table one way or another and now we get nothing of value for it because they "tried"?
