Update UPS Application?

I am in Orlando at OBAP.

I was told when I met with UPS to keep my application updated.

When I login to the UPS website and try to edit my application I get the following message:

Application On File

Thank you for your continued interest in employment at UPS. This application does not require any attention at this time.

Am I missing something? I can't see anyway to update my hours. I recently crossed a PIC hours threshold (1500 ME Turbine PIC) and I wasn't there when I applied to the currently open position on the website.

Sit back and wait till the next window.

Appreciate the response. Was wondering if there was a change I wasn't aware of.

A friend talked to them at Oshkosh. He has been able to update his app, but they told him it was an old one and to fill out a new one.
When did you do this one?

FogSkier 08-10-2017 11:43 AM

If your app is 'on file' I don't think you can update. If it is 'active' you generally can.

If you went to see them at the job fair, you tick the boxes, and they like you, your app will probably go active once they get home and submit all their job fair findings.

I'd check late next week if your status changes

Like I said. Sit back and relax.

So if it's "active", they like you?

Means u met the points. If you are on-file you are lacking something...ie a recommendation.

That's odd. When I first submitted my application in March, I received a notification saying I didn't qualify or something to that extent. I recently went back to the website to update my application and it says "active" before I even updated it.

They lowered the turbine PIC from 1000 to 500. Maybe that was it?

That's probably it.

Multiple active applications

I have 3 active applications, I re-applied every time the window opened. I just realized that I was only updating the most recent one. Should I update all 3? Tks

I would go back and re do the application. It will re-populate all your fields and allow you to file another application. I had the same issue, didn't get called for interview because of that. I'm now in the pool.

Doubt it. Lots of guys with way more than 1000TPIC still stuck in the "on-file" zone.

On-File... you cannot update your stuff

Active... you can update

Nobody seems to know magic formula for going active, but seems to involve attending job fairs, having internal recommendations, or having been an intern at some point.

That's odd. I have none of the above.

Sorry to be dense ... how did you make that work? Was your app active?

There's no logic when it comes to our online application. One day your app will be active and then it'll be on file, and then maybe it'll be active again, and so on...

On airline side we're now switching to a VPN-based web interface called checkpoint which is about as logical as the online application. Guys & gals are having all kinds of issues with it BUT the Borg has decided we're switching no matter what!

Someone must've been wondering if there's a way to make our pilots' online experience any more convoluted? (we have 3 different web portals, all being used for different tasks )
How about the online application software???! It seems to be confusing enough!?! Score!!!

I've been able to update my application over the past few months. I recently went to obap to speak with the recruiters and coincidentally my application is now locked and will not allow me to update anything, it still says active though. Any ideas why it may have done this?

FTFF 08-24-2017 09:02 AM

Sounds like a good sign.

After mine got locked out but still showed active, I got the Hogan email. Just 1 data point, but it seems like a step in the right direction.

Blue skies!

Is everyone's active right after they first apply? Does it take time to move from brand new app to another status?

Not necessarily true. A friend (who was hired) went from On File to Active all within 6 months without any changes to his app (couldn't update it) or any additional recommendations (they're already submitted).

ladon67 08-29-2017 02:06 AM

I submitted my first application yesterday with the computerized system. Uploaded resume, etc. Immediately after submitting got something like a "Thanks for applying, there are lots of applicants already...try again later." So I was like "Um...ok?"
Checked my email and had also gotten an immediate response from noreply@equifax saying "Thank you for your interest in UPS and the "First Officer" position.
While you were not selected for this position, we are inviting you to join Stella which will automatically consider you for all other open roles at UPS and other high performance companies in the private Stella network."

So, the computer system immediately decided that a 7800 hour ATP with 4100 PIC ME turbine was a no go? The computer system doesn't allow you to break down certain things, too. Like if you worked somewhere less than a year and got furloughed, the min time you can put in is a year...but I don't want to lie!! I was there for 4 months.

Pretty confused to say the least...

A little off topic. But regarding the Hogan. I failed it, for those who got to take it again. How did you get the test the 2nd time around?
I'm not giving up that easiley on Brown. I'm convinced it's the place where I need to be.
Thanks all. Enjoy your day, do something fun and meaningful.
