Upgrades and Retirements
#31
I’m just saying that at some point there will be a big leap to 2014 upgrades. The new hires (2014- )will see reduced upgrade times overall compared to 2007 hires and previous.

It will be interesting to see if our "growth" outpaces or just keeps up with retirements. And the other factor of by-passers could play a factor in the time to upgrade.

Keep in mind our upgrades are to widebody Capt. Look at the doh’s At United/Delta to intl widebody Capt and it’s even longer. Plus 100% of our capts make our top pay(due to the single pay scale). I think FedEx is significantly longer for widebody as well.
Junior FOs make over 200k and senior FOs make over 300. I just flew with One who made $340k. It’s jot just due to open time either. JAs and premium pays abound. Nobody upgrades because they have to. If you can’t live on $300k you won’t be able to live on Capt pay either.

What will happen is that the amount bypassing as upgrades progress into the 2006-07 range will be less than earlier. We haven't had great schedules and good seniority as FOs, so why not upgrade into the same mediocrity.
The ANC commute to upgrade is VERY hard to predict. That is anyone's guess. I will say that most of those hired in 2007 were forced to commute to ANC as FOs at some point, so they have a history.

I’m pretty sure that all 2007 hires ended up being displaced to ANC at one time or another. I’m a Jan 2007 hire, and I was forced up there in mid 2008.
