I don't really know what his position is with Boeing. He meets the airplane when it lands to make sure there are no problems with the jet. I'm guessing a maintenance person. He just said his time in SDF was extended by 3 months due to more airplanes coming. That's when he gave up the info. I don't put too much stock in it.

While it may be cool to mock the OP or question the status of his Boeing source, this rumor may have some legs if you think about it. The 777 waiting list is too long, ditto with the 767.
Nobody is buying 747-8's at this moment except UPS. Boeing may be happy to sell a few more to keep the line open, and I'm sure the price is right given the fact that nobody else is buying 747's. You never know!

And Vito, it would take care of the MD11 retirements, while upgauging as well. Only part that doesn't fit this scenario is that SDF is land-locked, no where to park any more -8's, as well as the gateways that get the MD right now.

But, this rumor is definitely not off the radar...

1800 RVR,
Flew into KLCK Sat morning, large ramp with tons of space, 12,000 ft runways, looks like a player for another rumor!
Congrats on the upgrade!

Louisville Metro would pave Churchill Downs if UPS told them to. I'm sure they can find a place for them.
