Plus, dump 37 MD’s right now that other ACMI’s can scoop up and use against us, that’s another factor to consider. Although, I will admit, I don’t know if our management thinks that far ahead and that strategically.
If we go by that logic, of course ANYTHING can happen at anytime.

The last two fleets gone were practically overnight. So much so that many pilots stayed home for over a year before being retrained. It happened in the recent past and can happen again.
True statement on career progression, never come to UPS for that reason. Just when you think you are finding your niche or some other QOL improvement it will be snatched away never to return. Seniority has a way of balancing out and if someone junior has a good deal it is a one off event that will go away next bid.

The folks that write airline policy have proved to be questionable in abilities for good reason but ATL seems to be a bit better at chess....

Maybe that is what the company wants. How do you know that behind many layers of shell companies or winks and nods that UPS does not own or at least control WG.

What allowed or caused those guys to get up to a year off? What changed? Maybe in the M&I?
I wasn’t on the property when it all went down and the discussion where I heard this was with a group over beers in CGN so I didn’t take detailed notes. Source and explaination were legit IMHO and I think there were referring only to long blocks of time off. Take home to the MD guys at the table was not to expect the same gift from the company when it finally gets retired.

If Atlanta decides to park all the MDs on the same day they would end up w the same situation.

Training delays, re-schedules, cancelations, etc., etc., etc. are the ‘new normal.’ Some manage to finish on time but many new-hires and/or transitioning pilots end up waiting weeks or even months in this perpetual re-scheduling disaster.
We have new-hires who were sent home due to scheduling/instructor availability issues, some were almost finished with their sim training. Since their off time dragged out more than anticipated several have now been notified they’ll need to re-start their training all over again.. re-start it as in back to CBTs and so on..
IOE and consolidation are other bottlenecks; many have to be extended to 150 days and even then won’t be able to consolidate on time.. in the meantime the company forced many instructors to fly the line because too many trips were uncovered. Who knew that training department instructors (ipa) were the new - against-their-will - reserve pilots?
Local (anc/sdf) management requests for additional instructors, training events, simulators are totally disregarded by the higher-ups. Fortunately ‘training is free’ at this place. haha
Frankly, Atlanta management style is a total embarrassment.
