This is not out of the realm of possibility. Average age of our pilot group even with a crap load of hiring is 51. Do you really think any body hired over 50 will make captain?

2007 hires who do not want to be the bottom captain until they have at least 10 or 20 captains below them as to not get displaced or thrown all over the system will have to wait until their 20 year anniversary. For many that may never come.

Delta and FedEx are the place to be. UPS lies and says they can't get planes while FedEx just ordered some yesterday. Delta has 2 year captains, FedEx is close to that as well. Stagnant can't even describe the career progression at UPS.

I wonder how many pilots will use UPS as a stepping stone in the future.

If GE could be taken off the Dow 30 I wonder what Kentucky brain power will do to UPS in 5 years....

Narita the other day, 1 UPS 767, 6 FedEx 777s.....Western Global 747 parked in a UPS spot....

At least the union dues got the new jacket sizes covered for the gals.

Yesterday’s orders by FDX don’t begin delivery until 2020 and run through 2025.

Total announced growth for FDX 2018-2022: 24 airframes

Total announced growth for UPS 2018-2022: 35 airframes

Swedish, we are not AA. To the rest we are not Delta or FedEx. And all the “jerk off’s” on the BG .....I don’t see the mood of the BG being how happy we are right now with the scope issue being the biggest gripe. I looked, but I didn’t see much happiness.

My point is this: It’s never going to be perfect. I’m 58 years old and right now snapshot has me holding my 49th choice. With 6 above me still to bid. Do you think that makes me happy? It is what it is.

If someone hired over 50 years old gets hired right now today....chances are they are just happy to have the job. They left their previous company for some reason. As we all did. And I’m sure at least seniority - wise know what they are getting into.

My father flew for the airlines for 38 years. Old school. One day I ventured a gripe about UPS, years ago.... He put down is beer, looked me in the eye and said nothing ****ed him off more than guys who fought and studied to get the job then start complaining about the job. In truth he never complained. Just did his job.

While I can’t aspire to not saying anything about the bone head stuff UPS has done, I do firmly realize that it’s not the “jerk off’s” that are the problem. UPS is doing this stuff. Not the “jerk off’s”.

UPS doesn’t exist for a pilots benefit. They do what they do, it is what it is, and it’s just as annoying to the jerk off’s and the rest of the membership.

If people continue to get wrapped around the axle on this stuff with the fights we have ahead of us, people are going to be in bad shape. It’s UPS....and they will do what they want to. And always have.

Please explain how you come to the conclusion that anyone hired today at 51 wouldn’t have the opportunity to upgrade. My math is waaay different.

Will there likely be another vacancy this year or does this cover the rest of the expected hiring?
