Career advice needed
Hey all. My ultimate goal is to wind up at UPS. A little about me, I did the Army’s high school to flight school program and flew Blackhawk helicopters for 8 years, got out and flew corporate (citation CJ2 and bell 407 helicopter/part 91) for three years and am now a first officer at PSA airlines. I am coming up for upgrade soon here at PSA. With UPS being my ultimate goal would I be better served staying here and getting 121 PIC or trying to jump to a Atlas or Kalitta? I have asked around and heard several different answers so I figured I would come to this board and see what the general consensus was.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I would race to get to the 1K PIC as soon as you can since it is a requirement at many airlines and a virtual requirement at almost all; once you cross that line I would make the jump to fly internationally, ACMIs are obviously a great option to attain that. Hope that helps a Bluestreaker.

While you are doing this, hit the job fairs, all of them, and make your face known to UPS. You never know if the ambition and drive to be at UPS will/could change your fortunes and you receive an invite to interview before checking all of the boxes that UPS likes to see checked.
Best of luck.

Get the PIC at PSA.
That is a must. Then can switch. If only an associates degree, start doing an online to demonstrate working or complete a 4 year degree. Can get hired without a 4 year degree but vast majority have the 4 year paper.

All good advice! 1K PIC is important. Yes, ups does hire without the degree. However, It's probably a low percentage. 1-3%. Ask yourself this, do you want to be in the 97% number that they are hiring from or the 3%?

Guys,
Thanks for all of the great advice, looks like I will be staying at PSA to get that PIC time as quick as possible. Yes, I was a warrant in the Army and do not currently have a degree but I should have it completed within a year. So it will be complete by the time I have the 1000 PIC. Thanks again for the responses. Hope to work with all of you at UPS in the future.

Agree with the advice given here, get your 1K PIC (and finish the degree) before you do anything else.
Of course, now that we suggested you stay put ups will buy Kalitta first thing in the morning..
(Atlas buyout won’t happen as DHL would block it. In ‘07 they secured a 49% equity and 25% voting rights equity of the previous Polar. Not sure how that translates to the current Atlas/Polar structure but DHL has the power to put an end to any buyout attempt by purple or brown.)
Wish you the best! Hope to fly with you one of these days.

First off... Thanks for your service. I was Army enlisted, turned a wrench and crewed the UH1H and CH47D. In my opinion the company likes Army folks, and I know a few here who feel the same way.
Best of luck where ever you land.
