UPS 2019 Hiring

I would also submit that, in addition to retirements, we're currently scheduled to take delivery of 28 new 747-8, 14 new 763Fs, 3 767BCFs, and five leased 763BCFs beween Oct 2017 and year end 2022.
All those are *currently projected* as growth (not replacement) airframes, and represent a significant increase in total Captain positions and overall IPA pilots which will serve to further lower upgrade time.
In 2019 alone, we're taking delivery of sixteen total airframes.
Assuming no global calamity, I bet a 2014 hire holds a CA position somewhere in the company no later than the Dec 2020 bid.

Could all three happen again ??? Probably the same odds as a decade ago.
So Boiler, where will this 2014 Captain be based in Dec 2020 ? Does the crystal ball have that info ? Asking for a friend ..

I dunno if one will be in the seat Dec 2020, but holding an award? ONT, SDF Bus, or SDF 757 in that order is my prognostication.
Feel free to tell me I was wrong in 19 months if it doesn’t happen; I’ve been wrong before
Also where is this retirement age increase talk coming from??? Nowhere NEAR where it was in 07...and I haven’t heard of a leading ALPA membership survey about the topic like the one I took in mid-07.

Same 6 or 7 years I projected. I really think sooner or later they're going to have to admit that the MD is done and the economy will dictate if the replacements are already here.

As far as early retirements, remember they pull from the future mandatory retirements. Have to see if the trend continues.

I kid, I kid.
We used to fly a lot of domestic 747's. Sdf/phl, sdf/ewr, sdf/pdx, phl/ONT, oak/phl, ord, dfw, you get the point. I could envision much if not all MD flying covered by the 74 and more 767's.

As far as breaking, I haven’t personally had one in at least two years.
