Hope your phone rings here quickly. I can't help with your other question, I think that the pool is based on points generated during the interview.

Anecdotally, I know people don’t know hard numbers but, do people hear of a lot of poolies who never get out?

My question here is: does attending Woman In Aviation conference and go talk to UPS would help me get a class date?
And also, by receiving a letter of placement into the pool, does this guarantee a class date in the future? Or some people would never receive an offer for the class date?
Thank you
As stated the pool letter does not guarantee a class date. I definitely would hit the job fair and talk with them if you are able. Any positive interaction with UPS HR can only help and show that this is the place you want to be,

Unfortunately, I bid to get the days off for OBAP instead of WIA. There is still no indication that UPS will be participating in OBAP this month. If anyone hears that UPS will be at OBAP, please let us know. I have no reason to go to LAS except to meet with UPS recruiters. I’m deep in the pool and trying anything I can think of to get to the shallows.

If you got an internal rec, your sponsor dropping by HR to put in a good word for you has occasionally been a lifeline to those drowning in the pool. Also, if it is genuinely points that determine whether or not you get pulled, additional internal recs and/or application updates to HR can (and do from my observations) help as (frankly) silly as that may seem. Cheaper than doing another job fair that really just does the same thing as your sponsor dropping by - reminds them to look at your file.

I tend to agree with this statement. One of the reasons that I do is because turnover in the hiring department has been high as of late. That being said, the same recruiter who interviewed you may not be the same person that is still in that department. But the job fairs will have the most recent additions to the hiring department. So, for that reason alone it might behoove you to attend another one and make yourself known. Just a thought.

If you have lots of previous 747 time, are they automatically sending you to that plane? Is that avoidable?

If current, they would likely assign you a Heavy class date, so possible MD11 or 747. if not current in a heavy you may end up in the 75/76 or A300 class.
Good luck

Looking back at the base/fleet/lifestyle information on pages 29-30, is there a domicile or type that would lend itself to compressing as many trips as possible together? I’ve anecdotally heard that SDFz is essentially one big trip per month. Is that doable anywhere else, or with minimal time between trips?

Z varies widely. First of all, a new hire is going to be very junior in Z for a couple of years, most likely looking at 14 day reserve periods or very crappy/choppy lines, with several trips a pay period. So no, I would say for at least 2 years, you won’t see the decent lines with one long trip or even two 7 day trips in a 28 day pay period (bid periods are 56 days, which includes two 28 day pay periods).
