UPS 2019 Hiring
#361
[QUOTE=SyFy;2799328]First time poster here. Hi all. I wanted to contribute my experience to help others.
Welcome! I am a newbie as well. No final offer yet I assume? Are you slated for the August class by choice (you were only available in August) or is that what was on your CJO originally?

Even if they went FIFO, it would certainly help the process. I'm guessing that'll never happen either. Hopefully everyone dries off soon from the swim. We're glad to see all the new hires on property.

They respond to demands outside their control. (Training department capability for example) which is impacted by many other variables and pressures internal to the company.
Having a pool is the normal outcome of a variable and reactive practices of UPS management.
The real frustration with the pool, isn't that it operates as a functional accumulator for hiring and scheduling demands, (most folks actually pass through the pool even if as short as a few days) but that once in the pool it is essentially a black hole. Once in the pool one never knows their orbit. Many get to close to the edge and never are seen again....others are fortunate to be pulled out before they disappear.
Would be nice if UPS simplified to a first in, first out order in the pool.
Wont change IMO. Works for UPS.

No big news. The ANC MD pilots have known this was coming for months. Supposedly the sim will be moved this summer also.
Almost all of the captains are going to stay in ANC on the 74. The majority of FOs will too. The story is the MD will be out of there by fall, so the debate was if everyone will get DH front and back lines, TDY or what since whale training is so backed up.

Think neutral overall. Many ANC MD crews appear to move to the 747, so same numbers as one fleet disappears and the other grows on JS side. P3s on Z side same, MD folks that fly in will mostly be operating, not taking P3. Overall. Give a neutral for the next few years. After that, to many variables.

Where oh where are all these airplanes going to park? SDF, ANC are full. A new domicile announcement could be coming this summer. Or not. UPS does a good job keeping secrets. So good upper management doesn’t even know the plan yet😷
