After getting the CJO, I was told verbally by Jean Thompson that I’m in the January 28th class. I haven’t received any disclosures or other forms whatsoever. Should I be concerned?

No. I got call from Jean 10 days before class date last year with FJO. Background should come back in about 7-10 days after CJO, if not super complicated.

Myself and a friend have a CJO for a February 25th class date. So there is at least one class date in February.

I did my drug test quite a while ago. I was told the same thing. Looking forward to seeing you there too.

Entered the pool in Oct, CJO in November. Sorry, I have no idea how big the pool is.

AK Mightymoose 01-10-2019 02:11 PM

Got CJO

I received a CJO a few days ago for the 29 Jan class. 70 days in the pool. 43 days from interview to pool letter.

FTv3 01-10-2019 04:44 PM

Did you two go to job fairs?

Anything else you can think of that helped get you the call?

Basic stats and backgrounds?

I know we are all reluctant to post personal info but it really helps others trying to get the call.

AK Mightymoose 01-10-2019 05:55 PM

CJO with Stats and my experience

TT: 3500 all military
PIC: 1700 (800 of which is single engine turboprop)
C-17 time (Heavy International) 1600 hrs

I attended job fair in July, a week after I submitted my app, (4 months from my availability date). I also got an internal rec the same week. Several weeks and months later, I got 2 more internal rec's.

I am almost certain the job fair did it. HR gave me their business card and told me to call them the next week and I did. The phone interview (basic questions as posted other places) occurred 1 week later. I was given the Hogan right after that. Then 5 weeks later, got a call to set up an interview that was another 4 weeks away. Pool and CJO as posted above.

I really think the job fair was vital, but I didn't have my app in long enough to know if my application and 1 internal could have secured the interview (it said "active" when I finished it). All the airlines at this particular career expo didn't seem to care that I was there, but UPS read my resume, talked with me for a while, and made me input my email into their IPAD for tracking purposes. That was my one and only job fair. And UPS has been my one and only interview and CJO. I had apps in and 3 internal recs at each of the big 3 airlines for 7 months now. Strange right?

The hiring pool was frustrating and long because I thought I screwed something up at the interview, but perhaps I was being too hard on myself. I was surprised to get the pool letter so late too. I just think they are busy and the process is slow.

Thanks to all on here who posted so I could gain insight into this process, and I hope all can gain from my experience.

AK Mightymoose 01-10-2019 06:05 PM

I just tried to post a large overview of my experience and a message quickly flashed that it was going to the moderator for review. We'll see what happens.

29th or 28th?? If it's the 28th, I'll see you there!

Great to see the IPA email today! What a great cross section of new-hires. Military, Corporate, Regionals, International, ACMs.... UPS does an excellent job of hiring in my opinion.

And remember... as my famous mentor told me. UPS prints your paycheck, and the IPA tells them the amount to put on it!

Welcome aboard.

Me too, not to mention you are so damned good lookin'.

AK Mightymoose 01-11-2019 07:49 PM

CJO with Stats and my experience

2nd time posting:
TT: 3500 (all military, mostly C-17)
PIC: 1700, with 800 being in a single engine turboprop

Timeline:
In July 2018, app completed and "active". 1 week later, got 1 internal rec in and attended job fair. Called HR the week after that (as instructed), Capt called me back days later with phone interview, then Hogan. 2 weeks after passing the Hogan, got invited to interview scheduled for 7 weeks later. Pool and CJO as posted above. 2nd internal rec came in about 3 weeks after my app was complete, 3rd internal rec came in 4 weeks after the interview.

Job Fair: At UPS's booth I talked with a FO who asked me to put my email address into the company IPAD for tracking purposes. After a few introductory questions, he tapped the HR person on the shoulder and said "this guy is exactly who we are looking for." HR person talked with me, then said to call her next week. That would not have happened without attending a job fair, however, I didn't have my app in long enough to know if my background alone could have gotten me further along (not likely).

The pool was frustratingly long because I thought I screwed up the interview and getting no feedback for 6 weeks after the interview didn't help. Sounds like the hiring department is just very busy.

UPS is my 1st choice and my only interview & CJO in this 7 month period. I have apps in at all Majors, and with the big 3, I have 3 internal recs at each and still no contact. Strange right?

I heard they stopped doing that. Or maybe I heard wrong. I enjoyed the experience, makes you appreciate how hard the drivers work.

One class back last year did not do it for a reason I don’t exactly remember, but pretty sure still doing it. I certainly gained a better insight and appreciation as to what our drivers endure day in and day out.

I'm in that class (with a CJO currently). Did you get any emails regarding ROE's, schedule, dress, expectations? Long johns-check!

Anyone in the 28/29 Jan class know if the class split is firm or will they join it together again due to 74 training backlog, like the last few month's classes?

...to answer a previous question, I did attend a job fair and I believe it was vital to getting the invite to interview.
