Applications accepted but...

Just filled out my application but was informed after finishing it, it’s not being processed for a position at this time, pretty much.
Great application to fill out though, because it only took me about 30 minutes. Compared to other Major airlines applications that I have yet to finish.
Some are asking for exact hours in each airplane ever flown, plus instrument approaches, plus night time and landings in each.....
Why?
If you have 5000 hrs TT in multiple airplanes, in my case, most of it flying 135. Why is it THAT important to know how many night landings I have done in EACH airplane???

Somebody sent me a pm about their 2019 app getting rejected while their previous 2 year’s apps were active. Perhaps a glitch is occurring in Brown’s magnificent software....?

Pinkdog 01-26-2019 12:09 AM

Seems like something is different. Mine was rejected after the previous two years were active....who knows.

Is there another place where you can apply, besides the application on their website?

Long post warning!

Don’t know the answer to your question. Maybe it’s because they can? ..or because they know some people won’t even try? ..or maybe they’ve been burned by the few candidates who seemed to be very experienced but proved otherwise during their training? ‘Debatable’ logbook entires happen more often than you think..

Who knows why? However, we do know it’s “their” airline and they really like to run it “their” way. Anyone here will vouch for this company’s need for control. Trust me, it’s a never ending battle.. :(

As far as your TBNT response - it could be a computer glitch? ..or maybe you left out some hard-to-find part of the application? ..or it could be the fact they tightened up their ‘competitive minimums’?
No one here truly knows; we’re just a bunch of line pilots trying to help out prospective Brown wannabes.

I must say I’m pretty amazed at the high quality of candidates they keep getting?! Many are typed and current on heavy jets having flown to pretty much the very same places we typically fly to. Many leave left-seat positions at Emirates, Atlas, Southern, Kalitta, etc. for big brown. 777, 767, 747 captains, check airmen, IOE instructors, first officers, etc..

Ask yourself this - if YOU were a recruiter and had to choose between someone who has ~5K hours flying ‘multiple airplanes, primarily in §135 environment’ versus a 747 captain or even a first officer who’s basically already trained on the airlplane he or she will be flying here - who would you pick? I think you know the answer.

I don’t want you to get discouraged and wish you the very best, I sincerely mean that, but you need to try to see things from the recruiters’ perspective.
It’s all about supply and demand and right now - the supply is still there.
I don’t know how or why because ALL airlines are hiring right now but they’re still managing to attract highly competitive individuals.

No one here knows how our messed up online application system really works. It’s an enigma for most of us. Heck, we get excited if the catering we ordered online actually shows up on our flight!
So what’s next? Well, you could try to apply again using a different email address maybe? Alternatively, if you have a sponsor(s) ask him or her to check in with the HR? Maybe they can find out what’s going on? (Please share with us what they find out.)
Alternatively, take a screen shot of the message you got and maybe try to ask your questions in person at one of the job fairs?

That’s all I can think of. I wish you and everyone else dealing with this frustrating debacle the very best.

Many, if not most of us, line pilots are embarrassed about this and we wish the company would value our input. They say they do but they don’t.
Apologies to all of you who’re trying to join our ranks for having to deal with our antiquated computer system and for the unexplainable glitches and illogical application rejection auto-responses. We need more pilots so please don’t give up.

Thank you sir!
No, I'm DEFINITELY NOT giving up.
And yes, as a 135 guy competing with 121 guys, I know I need to be lucky just to get looked at. But I'm still going to try!

Right now my application shows up as "inactive" but completed and no areas that needs attention..
So I don't really know what that means, unless they have closed their window for now.
I'll keep checking often though.
Thanks again for a GREAT post!

Job fairs and Letters of Recommendation... once you hit submit on the application that's the only thing you have control over to improve your chances. Just my opinion, but that guidance has helped me and many of my friends gain access to the Hogan.

On the same note, my app reflects as “Active”. However, I am unable to make any updates, it shows a lock on all areas but the contact information section.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

That is a good sign. It happened to me before the Hogan and interview.
