“Prior to sim”: does that mean they failed an oral multiple times or are there written tests that weren't passed? Just trying to understand exactly what to expect and where the potential stumbling blocks are. I’m sure you can appreciate the new hires have a vested interest in this so we can see and avoid.

Don’t listen to scare tactics. The failure rate at UPS is no more alarming than any other major airline failure rate. The only person that I have specifically heard of that had issues came out of a King Air.
It’s AQP with all the same maneuvers as any other training syllabus that you have experienced. Show up prepared and rested. Practice good CRM with your sim partner in and out of class/sim. Lastly, have and maintain a good attitude. That’s all you need to succeed. The hiring department does a good job of interviewing more than qualified candidates.

So, moral of the other posts, everyone makes it from all backgrounds as long as you have a good attitude.
