Sorry to the people who seem to think I’m whining. I’m sorry for trying to plan out my family’s life BEFORE changing airlines. If gaining information on class placement is frowned upon then perhaps a LOT of threads should be closed down. I’ve flown cargo for years, love it, but do not want to be based in ANC, is that a problem or something?
UPS has a history of flagrantly circumventing the contract in this particular regard (from what i am told) and I’m simply asking if they are still doing it. Perhaps be upset with that instead of someone only asking if they are still doing it so they can consider employment before coming over.
I just wanted to know if I’d get the 747 and be seat locked 4000 miles from home for 18 months...

Pretty simple -- when HR calls you, just tell them you are unwilling to fly the 74 out of ANC. These things have a way of working themselves out. There are thousands out there that would fly whatever asked for a few years to work here.

I can understand not WANTING to go to ANC, when you are current on the 747 and are almost certain to get that assignment.
I get it. I'm not offended by it.
Would I personally turn down a job here because of an 18 month seat lock sentenc, er, assignment to ANC? (that in actuality would be 24-30 months) ? No...but I'm not anybody else and can appreciate a candidate who knows not only what they want, but what they'll accept for themselves and their family.

Young kids... spouse with a job... sick older parents... there are a lot of reasons a person might have this issue. I’m amazed how quick this group is to condemn. We’re not all in our 20’s with the easy “suck it up” for the job approach. I don’t see any entitlement in just asking.

Salty and I were talking about a 767/747 fleet mix, 2 years ago on a trip. I completely support this theory going forward. We cannot stay on top of the training needs we have now, imagine bringing a new type fleet to the party. It would be disastrous.
Boeing needs a win right now, the 737Max will fly again, but you can stick a fork in that airplane. It’s done. UPS has no incentive to buy a “just on paper” Airbus freighter. They will take advantage of Boeing’s plight and swing a deal.
Expect a massive joint announcement from Boeing/UPS:
10 additional 747-8
40 new 767 freighters
Retirement of all MD11 acft by 2025
Disclaimer: Throw it all out the window if brown/purple/yellow/blue mergers are being discussed behind closed doors.
The Megaton-Goliath ship is slowly turning course... the recent earnings statement and Sunday pickup/delivery announcement says it all.

And why did you feel the need to add "freighters" to 767? Do we fly anything else here?
