Yes it’s 1000 times worse. The “I’m better than you because I live inside the city limits of Louisville” is one of many reasons we left. Someone needs to tell the locals this ain’t Beverly Hills, it’s a mediocre city at best.

Southern Indiana ? Its nice, but in case you didn't notice, a lot of KY has moved across the river.

sorry this was your experience. My experience in 2 neighborhoods was exactly the opposite - friendly and welcoming to outsiders.

I'd pay double in taxes to make sure my children weren't branded Hoosiers.

Agreed.

I didn't have children to consider when we moved here. Do as you wish. Commuting is a better option for half of the SDF base. Not a surprise.

Any place is what you make of it. Neither Louisville nor Kentucky are all that bad when you're making $170k just for showing up, looking left, and saying "what should we do?" If it's worth it for you to commute, have at it, no hard feelings...one man's trash etc. But I love the cost of living, the great park system, the lack of traffic, and the lack of crime (if you live where the crime isn't). St. Louis, Detroit, or Cleveland make this place look like Connecticut, it's all relative. And it's no worse than Atlanta in terms of crime, but a *whole* lot cheaper. I view it as Nashville with much cheaper housing, better architecture and history, and no fake pop-country music on every corner.

“SDF is like BNA”?? haha Sorry, you lost me there...

I think SDF is ok by the way, just nowhere near as cool as BNA. It’s like you said, one man’s trash ..is another man’s OCV.

I currently live in S Florida and my wife and I were looking to move to Louisville. It’s an ok city. It’s small so it lacks a lot of dining and shopping options. Cincinnati two hours up the road kills Louisville in this and housing options.
Speaking of housing Louisville is horrible! It is so overpriced it’s not even funny. Try looking online in the desirable areas and see what you can buy. We were looking at the Highlands, St Matthews and Indian Hill areas. It is ridiculous it reminds me of California home prices to be honest. If you want cheap housing options you have to move further East out in Oldham County where a lot of pilots live.
Then you have a 5% state income tax, local city tax, annual vehicle tax, ect....
Oh and not sure if you know or care but Louisville is a super super California like ultra liberal democratic city.
We still might move there as it would make life so easy, since I don’t want to bid MIA, and both my wife and I like all the parks around the city and all the beautiful old houses.

You lost me at dining options. If you actually know anything about Louisville, you would know dining options are abundant to say the least. With that being said, to each his own when it comes to where you want to live. To me, there isn’t enough money you could pay me to live on the East or west coast. I’ll take the middle of the country any day.

Like I said it’s a small city. Don’t expect much.
