Commuting at brown can be really easy especially with paid tickets both ways. Couple that with layovers at your home town and you could be sitting really pretty with a little seniority. Reserve your JS on company planes and you’re virtually guaranteed to get to work (ymmv but many peeps here report not 1 single hiccup in 20+ years of JS’ing). It can also be a pain - SDF often a double legger on the pax guys, those paid tickets are usually priced on SWA making it hard to find competitive prices on the legacies to your hometown. Jumpseating on browntails into a trip is hit or miss: sometimes it’s not smart rest-wise, sometimes the arrival is past your signin time, sometimes you just have to come in a day early. But often the timing is just right and the stress is virtually non existent....
Banker’s hours factor: majority of block hours here are at night. Evening to morning stuff usually has a sleep (nap) opportunity. Lots of signin times between 1-3am. Intl stuff is plagued with 24 hr layovers. Yet, do the night hub stuff in Germany and you can actually stay on US time zone until the last get home day. Bunch of day flying scattered around too. No PBS, conflict bidding, strategic vacation usage can give you quite a bit of time off here.
You’ve tasted pax flying. Do you like the hassle of terminals, TSA, long walks to aircraft, esp with tail swaps, endless problems with passengers, long lines for TO, flow control, etc.? Flying at Fx/UPS is a nice change: in-house security, van rides everywhere, cleared for TO, turn R direct destination, get up and walk around the cabin/take a leak as you please - the whole experience is much, much easier.
Tough decision. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need here. Answers may fluctuate as holiday drinks get consumed over the next few days.... good luck.
