The 2016 Contract contained changes that gave IPA instructors a much higher minimum of simulator training duties (75%), and for the first time, MV checking duties in progressively increasing percentages.

Reserve Recovery Lines were also created in C2016, meaning Management Emergency Flying will result in IPA crewmembers not having to work. This was most noticeable in 747 ANC in the last few years, but I believe all fleets and domiciles have benefited from it.

I believe the decline in total FQS numbers over the last few years as line pilot ranks have grown could be directly tied to these contractual gains.

I suspect continued gains in IPA training and checking work will be sought in the next CBA.

Ahhh, gotcha. I did know about the increase in IPA instructing and MV checking. There are still dozens non training department (these for obvious reasons fly the most) managers that fly, aren’t there?
