Its all relative. If you are used to being able to push it up to 3 am and still have 12 hours to recover prior to your flight to ONT/SBD, it’s bad. Otherwise, it’s pretty cush. One man’s trash….

Of all the things to gripe about here, the HNL trips aren’t on my list, but to each their own.

When you say that you have day flying, what hours are you working?
No international and there are people who commute for the whale or SDFZ (767 international).

Most day time flying lines start with a 1000am-1pm departure in ONT. Usually 2 or 3 legs and end up in SDF around 11pm-1am. Second day may be two legs starting with a 2pm departure and 2 or 3 legs. You’ll end around 10pm-1am. The last day can vary. Most of my trips have been one leg on the last day back to ONT and I’m back in base around 4-6pm. That’s an easy trip in my eyes.

Some of the harder trips have a similar start but may have a circadian flip in the middle or the last day (usually last day for day time flying) or a long duty day on the last day because who wants to call in fatigue on the last day (sarcasm). Example of a circadian flip being the last day of a trip with day flying you may start at 9pm and finish at 4-5am after a whopping 21hr layover to prepare you for this circadian flip. A long duty day would be a 6-630am show on the west coast, flying to SDF to sit for 2-3hrs then fly back to the west coast. Then there’s trips what start and end with commercials. All in all there’s a lot of variety. Some crap and some not which is in the eye of the beholder. As always it’s not for everyone but we all seem to find our niche or greener pastures that fit us.

Pretty regularly, largely depends on how much opentime there is in a given fleet/seat/domicile (driven by block hours, staffing and SIK calls).

Will be curios to hear what sitting reserve in December/January was like given how little open time there seems to be across the board, minus what look like short-range SIK calls.

Default Trips with Deadheads

How often do trips start and end with deadheads at Brown? I’m sure it’s subjective depending on base, equipment, seat and relative seniority.

You answered your own question.
All the variables make it hard to give a quality answer.

Using the upcoming bidpack for an example on A300 F/O looks like about 10% have a commercial DH on both ends. As all things airline, it can be done with enough seniority and it will change.
