Default ANC private room for rent next to airport

Hi everyone,

not sure if this is the right place to post but I’ll give it a shot. UPS pilot here looking for a private room not too far from the airport. I tried the ads in the pilot lounge in ops but they are old and the rooms have been taken already. If anyone has any info to share, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You probably won't need even while on reserve. You'll get used up and sent out on a trip right away. The Marriott I hear gives crew rates at $119/night I believe. Just use that as a crashpad - should be cheaper.

Disagree with this advice. 1 new hire in our crashpad and 1 guy who just got off probation - they both get used every now and then BUT they spend a fair amount of time in the crashpad. The lines they, occasionally, can hold aren’t commutable. They have quite a few out & backs so they end up staying in ANC in-between those short trips. Many trip-trades get denied so they don’t have a choice. At $119 per night they would end up with a VERY expensive crashpad.

To the OP - JR is right, a post on B & G might be your best bet.

Thanks for the Bar’n grill suggestion. Just posted a message there. As far as being used on reserve, I can confirm i can spend up to 6 nights per month in ANC making the Marriott a bit pricey for my 1st year pay!😉

when I was a new hire up there on Reserve, I split a room at the Marriott with one of my new hire classmates whose reserve days were the same as mine. Free breakfast if you’re Gold or Platinum (assuming you are after training). If you are going to be up there long term, we weren’t, then you will definitely need a crash pad until you have some seniority.

only if you aren’t a dirtbag. New hires are often covered by everyone else anyway.
