This is true, but its more of a personality type vs political leanings. There are those that think sacrificing individual rights for a greater good is the right way to go, and then there are those that believe its within ones personal responsibility to protect themselves and their family as they see fit. It just so happens those 2 types of people all fall on one side of the fence or the other with little overlap.

This really shouldn't be difficult, or an exercise in political ideology.
If Cappy asks jumpseaters to wear a mask, they should wear a mask. If they refuse, which should be their choice, they can find a different ride. On the flip side, if a Captain allows jumpseaters discretion in wearing a mask in accordance with the FOIB, and one jumper decides to go without, nobody should get bent about it and if they do they can find a different ride too.
I've been wearing a mask on crew vans and in the ASC recently, until I get to the Airbus Segregation Room. In there there's plenty of space between folks so social distancing can be maintained and a mask not worn, in accordance with the bulletin. I flat-out WILL NOT wear a mask on the flight deck will operating, I don't think its safe with regards to the need for quick don O2, but if somebody I'm flying with wants to that's their prerogative and I wouldn't judge them or any other colleague who elects to.
While a mandate at this point in the pandemic is silly IMO, mask usage indoors seems like low-arsepain mitigation (remember, a simple mask doesn't keep you from getting sick from somebody, it reduces spread from a wearer who is shedding virus) and isn't my personal hill to die on.
I'd prefer we all use our heads on this, and not turn into a bunch of tattletale Karens on each other...it ain't rocket surgery.

Are there Captains here that would deny a jumpseat to someone being overly cautious, or someone that insists on following company policy to the letter? I’m a newbie so please ridicule my naïveté if it’s warranted.

Of course not. That was just an extreme example to push the point that the jumpseat shouldn't be used as a weapon. That said, company policy is company policy and people should follow it.
I've had some time off and I'm not up to date on the latest and greatest apparently. Masks are required for jumpseaters.

It’s not that hard folks, we are in this together. Lucky to be employed, I really appreciate people taking the minimal effort to wear a mask. Aren’t we supposed to love our neighbor? Wearing a mask helps keep your brethren, their families, and their communities healthy, and that’s cool, rule # 1, don’t be a jerk right?

Company is shifting liability to crews, nothing more. When the lawsuits start to arrive UPS will say, ‘we mandated it in many cases, strongly encouraged it in all others and provided masks around the entire system. The pilot’s chose (intentionally against the policy) not to wear them. Not our fault.’ They’ll could also try to use it as a way to weasel out of Covid-LOA pay as well : “we told you to wear a mask, found out during contract tracing interviews that people said you weren’t wearing yours. Sorry.” Might not be in our best interest to play cowboy with this, just IMHO.
