CEO says she not interested in growth...she wants higher margins to boost the stock price...good for investors..not so good for the employees. She bragged twice about passing on buying more airplanes...hope the ones we have on order dont get canx. Seems like we are going back to a place we didnt like. Sounds like the old do more with less squeeze. Time will tell..hope I am wrong.... I want Abney back.

Great quarter, but I’m not sure you’ll see this new CEO buy another airplane during her tenure. She is a cost cutter and a right sizer, and already passed on additional 747s. Stock price, shareholder value, max efficiency were the mantras of the conference call. Hoping we don’t have another ceo that won’t wash an airplane for 7 years..

"Do more with less" / "squeeze more from the grape" thinking etc is not good either

That being said, we still aren't properly or even close to properly manned for the airplanes we have and for the ones coming. That’ll take a few years to catch up. I’m all about keeping the business profitable, so hopefully it’s not as bad as it was during the last cost cutting era

While I’m not thrilled UPS did not take advantage of the available 747’s, I can understand why they decided to hold off. Nobody knows what the backend of this looks like. I think the biggest number today was 2nd quarter GDP down 32%. That’s 15x the normal GDP moves. While this pandemic may have accelerated the “have everything delivered to my house” trend, we are eventually going to feel the effects of the humongous downturn in the economy. Remember, that is all very low margin business for UPS. This is without discussing the disaster that is becoming US/China relations. Might be a prudent time for UPS to be lean and efficient.

Agreed, but this is the kind of vision less CEO that will allow Amazon to slowly eat our lunch while she focuses on short term profits over growth. In an environment where we have historic pricing power, she doesn’t see any need to invest in our network.
