Reapplying after turning down offer!

All

Hindsight being 20/20, I chose poorly selecting American over UPS this past January ... yes I'm an idiot.
Just curious if anybody knows anybody that successfully reapplied and for a job after telling UPS TBNT ( I did it very nicely )
My app went active but not sure when HR looks they will give me a second chance

Thanks
Nick

I have it on good authority that if you FEDEXed them your TBNT letter it’s probably not recoverable, :D

but otherwise there is at least a chance. You’ll have a lot more serious competition right now than you did then though.

No, you aren’t an idiot! Don't beat yourself up over this; no one can predict the future, what makes sense today might seem illogical the following week.

You seem to have a good attitude about it all and I think there’s at least a chance - apply and hope for the best. Wish you luck!

It sucks, I’ve been there. I did the same thing, but different pax carrier. When I asked my buddy for a recommendation at UPS, he said he asked around and nobody that has turned down a class date has ever gotten another chance.

Hopefully the cargo carriers will be more understanding of this in the future. Heck, I was beating myself up last year for turning down UAL for FDX in 2018. It's all such a crap shoot sometimes.

Amen, it’s all a big aviation-themed lottery; you just never know who’ll end up winning and who’ll end up losing.

Our HR folks frequently switch job titles within the company. So no one really knows how today’s HR team would look at someone who’d turned down a prior job offer? Once the job fairs resume, and eventually they will, I’d ask them in person.

If they hired you (Nick) it means they must’ve liked you. Therefore I still believe there’s a chance.

UPS thinks everyone does/should want to work for them. I believe they find it incredulous that someone would turn them down.

I suspect UPS, having hired furloughed pilots in the past believing they would stay instead of going back, will more than likely not entertain hiring someone after having been told “no thanks.”

Considering both Delta and and United were represented in the most recent class, there is hope. How much, I don’t know.

Yes they will hire from any airline. I’m saying they more than likely won’t hire someone who is furloughed from a legacy or someone who has turned them down in the past.

There are probably some exceptions to the rule. I’m sure someone who has been diligently updating their app even if at a career airline would still have a chance. Someone who is just now applying for the first time, or turned them down, would probably be at the bottom of the stack IMO. Nothing against them or quals, it’s just sort the brown mindset.

Hope I’m wrong, but in all honesty, someone who never wanted to work at UPS and is now considering it due to the current environment...meh.

He is not asking if they will hire a furloughed AA guy. He is asking if they will hire someone who in the past was offered a job (at UPS), turned them down, and no wants to come after declining the job. Based on my experience, you have close to a 0% chance. You are much better off applying at Fedex.
