Geez, you guys been sippin’ the Brown KoolAid or something? The guys and gals staring at a furlough need the real low down on jobs they are considering, not some embellished lip service. There’s some validity to what C2078 posted. This job is basically a big 5 contract at an ACMI shop. There are some
great things here, like our union, but overall I’d say it’s OK. Maybe even good on it’s best days. Certainly worse places to be. Furlough looming or not, do your research before coming here. Boiler himself has posted on here more than once: “UPS is not for everyone.”

If you view everyday as a battle, then you would probably have that same view wherever you ended up. As many issues as the pilots have, there is no way you have an issue every day.
Sure they do things like tell hotels not to give free breakfast even if it’s included in the rate or pay more to put you in a better/worse hotel based on perception. They can be petty.
What amuses me is you weren’t even at UPS for the 1 leg in/out, same city every night flying. The 110 hour HNL, 72 hour SYD layovers. 5 leg, 14 day trip or ones you commercialed more than operated.
UPS has gotten bigger airplanes and more efficient. Nothing personal, just business.
Want feel good items? Fill out your contract survey that way when you get a chance and talk to everyone else and encourage them to do the same.

As one steps back and looks at the current apocalyptic airline landscape, however, they need to consider what they see...and UPS continuing to take delivery of growth airframes and hire throughout 2020 is somewhat unique in the "brass ring job" market and absolutely worthy of weight as any prospective employee does their due diligence.
UPS ain't a place for back pats and attaboys and being respected by passengers walking around a terminal, but rather show up/move boxes/collect banana/forget about brown polyester. If one can wrap themselves around that, they stand a good chance at a happy successful career outside of situation-specific individual arsepains and larger issues the EB has a really good recent history of resolving on behalf of the group.

See the UPS 2020 Hiring thread. This is part of what I am talking about. What kind of employer makes a potential employee wait months and months just to tell them if they are successful or not? One thing is to communicate to the potential employee they are successful, place them in the pool, even if indefinitely, another is not to even have the consideration to tell them something, anything, for months.

Wow. I must work for a different company. Every day is a battle? To stay awake? Maintain landing currency? UPS is not a person. People come and go, some do stupid things on behalf of UPS, and some do great things. To have such anger at a soulless corporation is nonsensical. This company doesn’t care about you or factor you into every decision because companies don’t have the ability to care. Find a spouse that loves you the way that you want to be loved, but for someone that has had just about ANY other job in the world, this place is great.

There are no daily battles here. That’s why we have a union. They do a tremendous job on our behalf. The original negative poster either has no other perspective to draw from or is just an unhappy individual. I would guess that 98% of IPA/UPS membership doesn’t post on here. You know how there is always that 5-10% at every company. Well most of them post on here. This is an outstanding place to work and for myself personally, the best airline job in the country.

If that is what constitutes your definition of "a bad place to work", then there are a LOT of bad places to work.... although one could also look at it as it is kinda standard across the board as well. Just my $0.02. This seems like an AWESOME company to work for in my short tenure here.
Great to hear you’re having a good ride so far. As SaltyDog recommends, try to keep that good feeling going for as long as you can.
