UPS 2021 Hiring
#281
Anyone heard of UPS hiring someone who doesn't have a college degree? Currently captain at PSA Airlines with 9,000+ hours, but no college degree. Should I work toward completing a degree just to have it, or would time be better spent becoming a check airman, flight simulator instructor, etc.? Unfortunately spent my younger days running a flight school to pay my way through my certifications/flight hours instead of "wasting" time on a college degree.

Short version, we don’t know. Best guess is 1 January 2022. They were flooded with so many highly qualified pilots that they no longer felt the need to leave the window open. At least, that’s the WAG most folks have gone with. Management rarely shares many useful insights into hiring. The last management guy I heard talk about hiring was suggesting it would be more than 300 this year. We are roughly halfway there already. Just ran into a few more today and they were as in the dark as I am.

We might go back to the way things used to be - a relatively brief application window - 1-3 months long.
So they might open it in January of 2022 and close it a few months later? That’s how they did it for years. ..but who knows, they might reopen it tomorrow?

Impossible to say until the next system bid. The rumors that I've heard are that it *may* come down, since presumably all of the way senior people who wanted it already got it, but that's a guess/rumor. It has also been suggested to me that being slightly more senior in ANC and commuting may be preferable to being the plug in SDF. Time will tell.

I would say one or two system bids...when they happen is the real factor to decide. Growth is all in SDF for 74. Next system bid will be telling i'm sure. Plenty of folks who bid SDF are ready to bid back to ANC already so who knows. Too much domestic flying in the future for SDF 74s is scaring away the long time international folks.....roll the dice
