Good point and it’s obvious to move your backlogged inventory back into the system as soon as possible. Especially as this industry will not come back anytime soon and the demand for newly designed aircraft is nearly ZERO compared to prior pandemic levels. The point is that it was in the plans and will continue on some other new platforms when demand resumes some years down the road. Once tabled it will come around again and again and again. No worries anytime soon, an introduction a decade from now will still take years for attrition to finalize such an initiative. Enjoy the good times now.

Imagine a 63 year old pilot grumbling about having to learn all new single pilot procedures...it would be almost as bad as having to learn a new QRH format or checklist....

Who's gonna run the AED? Or will the pads be required to be on from brake release to chocks in?

Perfect, we’re already acclimated/dumbed down to wearing masks so an O2 mask in addition to the AED pads would be a fairly easy mandate. Catheter is where we draw the line, I guess “Depends” will be the solve.

Simple: don’t install one. Solves the problem and saves $$...think like the fish!

Would you guys then recommend a 22 year old just coming out of University to pursue a career as a pilot if within their career they might me replaced?

LoL if that’s all it takes to make you not want to be a pilot then HELL NO.

22 year old starting his or her career today will NOT be replaced within his/her career. However, they might end up retiring as a single-pilot “captain” backed up by a much more advanced automation than what we’re used to and a copilot or ‘flight follower’ backing the captain up from the ground. I firmly believe that.

Change is gradual. In chronological order - here are positions gradually eliminated in the past and some that will be in the future:
Navigator - Flight Engineer - IRO - Copilot - and yes - one day, decades from now the Captain too.

Again, a 22 year old will be fine. A toddler? Too early to tell.
